The month of February 2018 was particularly cold: "the temperature of 3.5 ° C on average in the country was lower than the normal of 2.2 ° C", observes Meteo France in its own monthly report. Two snowy episodes, at the beginning and end of the month, even prevented the two, three and four-wheelers from rolling. !

Under these conditions, it was complicated to buy – and sell – motorcycles and scooters. This even became impossible when the potential customer – or the seller – was bedridden by the flu … By the way, MNC points out that according to the French public health establishment, this disease would have caused approximately 6,400 deaths this winter (for 91% of them people aged 65 and over).

It is certainly two times less deaths than last year, since the national public health agency reports that "at the end of the 2016-2017 epidemic, the excess of all-cause mortality was estimated at 21,200 deaths and about 14,400 deaths were attributable to influenza ".

Mandatory mask wearing ?

In any case, the flu has still led to almost twice as many tragic and unbearable deaths as road accidents … To fight against this other national scourge, shouldn’t the wearing of masks and gloves (CE mark!) compulsory? And prohibit greetings from less than 80 cm away, even 90 or 130? Maladies-Net.Com could open the debate…

Fortunately, the Site market report for February 2018 is more exciting: to believe the figures compiled by the auxiliary automobile association (bought, published and dissected by MNC), French bikers and scooter riders are doing very well, thank you. for them: sales of motorcycles in France increased by + 10.7% between February 2017 and February 2018.

Site readers – who, as everyone knows, are a bit more perceptive than others – will notice that the market did not start 2017 in great shape, due to the excess – strategic registrations of Euro3 models – at the end of 2016.

Likewise, by comparing the score for February 2018 (9,722 registrations) to that of January 2018 (9,109), the progress is much less impressive. It remains nonetheless positive, while the month of February is shorter than January..

Barely more valiant than last January, the 125 cc scooters and motorcycles did however have a very good month of February 2018: their 2,703 registrations represent a jump of + 23.5% compared to February 2017! Honda and especially Yamaha tow the sector, KTM and Suzuki explode their – small – meters, and MBK is living its last hours…

On the large-displacement side, sales growth is more moderate (+ 6.4% vs. February 2017) but more constant (vs. January 2018). Heckled by BMW in January, the three Japanese Yamaha, Kawasaki and Honda reach the podium in February.
