Maverick Vinales started from pole position at Le Mans and finished first. Valentino Rossi could have snatched P1 away from him on the last lap, but made two mistakes on the last lap. The second, so far unexplained mistake (the rear wheel slipped away) led to the fall on the last lap. Vinales is now the world championship leader again, ahead of Pedrosa, Rossi, Marquez and Zarco. Johann Zarco, in 5th place in the World Championship ranking, drove to 2nd place at his home Grand Prix in Le Mans! Dani Pedrosa secured 3rd place and is 17 points behind Vinales in the overall standings.

How did it go for Jonas Folger??

Jonas Folger started from 15th place in Le Mans and fought his way to 7th place by the end of the race. According to Folger, there is still a lack of feedback with a full tank, which is why he was unable to set the times at the beginning, as he did from the middle of the race. In front of him, Danilo Petrucci, Aleix Espargaro and Marc Marquez flew out of the race, so that in the end he had Jorge Lorenzo in his sights. The German is not entirely satisfied with his strong 7th place because, according to his own statement, he would still have had a chance of 6th place had it not been for a slowdown in the last lap.
