Husqvarna FR 250 GP

Moto3 machine for 2020

EICMA 2019

In addition to a large number of production bikes, motorcycles that are not intended for normal mortals also find their way to the EICMA – for example the Husqvarna FR 250 GP, which is intended for the Moto3.

D.he KTM subsidiary Husqvarna is entering the Moto3 championship in the 2020 season and presented the dedicated FR 250 GP racetrack motorcycle at the EICMA in Milan. However, Husqvarna did not disclose much information about the bike. Presumably the Moto3-Husqvarna will be based on the KTM RC 250 GP and have mostly almost identical features. In any case, thanks to the color, you can already see at first glance that it has to be a bike from the KTM subsidiary. We still have to be patient for the exact technical data, but the parent company KTM has disclosed some information about the Moto3 commitment. Besides Husqvarna, there will be motorcycles from just two other manufacturers in the 2020 Moto3 season: KTM and Honda.

Cooperation with the Max Racing Team

Husqvarna will cooperate with the Max Racing Team for the coming season, which is led by former motorsport star Max Biaggi. The former world champion in the 250cc class won 42 Grand Prix at the time. Peter Ottl is again on board as team manager. Romano Fenati and Alonso Lopez could be won as pilots for the satellite team. Especially for Fenati there is a new chance with the engagement, as the Italian has been good for a few missteps in the recent past and no longer has the best image.

KTM boss Stefan Pierer also commented on Husqvarna’s entry into Moto3: “We are very happy about Husqvarna’s return to the MotoGP paddock. The Moto3 is the ideal platform to represent the Husqvarna brand, as we have seen it in the past between 2014 and 2015. We believe that by engaging in Moto3 we can further establish the Husqvarna brand in the street sector and increase awareness among the general public ”.

The new Moto3 season starts on March 8, 2020 in Qatar.
