At only 20 years old, the Toulouse-based Mike di Meglio has achieved a triple feat: rebounding after a difficult period, reconciling France with a world title and signing a contract in 250 within the most popular team, that of Jorge Aspar Martinez !

A clear potential despite a chaotic start

As soon as he arrived on the Continental Circus at the age of 15, Mike di Meglio was boiling over to show his potential to the whole world: his talent was quickly spotted by Alain Bronec and Nicolas Dussauge, who succeeded in hoisting him in 125 where he scores five points for his first season.

  • 1988: birth in Toulouse on January 17

  • 1999: debut in competition (scooter)

  • 2000: 3rd in the French scooter championship, 5th in the Conti cup

  • 2001: winner of the Conti Cup

  • 2002: winner of the Challenge de l’Avenir, 3rd in the French Open 125 championship, participates in the Spanish championship

  • 2003: 28th in the 125 world championship

  • 2004: 18th in the 125 world championship

  • 2005: 11th in the world championship, first victory in Turkey

  • 2006: 25th in the 125 world championship with the FFM Honda team

  • 2007: 17th in the 125 world championship

  • 2008: 125 world champion with Ajo Motorsport and Derbi (4 wins, 9 podiums, 2 poles, 264 points)
  • Despite an obvious speed – first victory at the Turkish GP in 2005 (read) – the young French hopeful will have trouble winning. From doubts to disillusion, Mike di Meglio found himself at the back of the grid in 2006 (25th in the championship) with the Honda of the France team.

    The following year will unfortunately not be much more exciting: his relations with the members of Scot are disastrous and the young man loses confidence on the handlebars of a Honda to which he cannot manage (read).

    It is a turning point in the pilot’s career: morale at half mast and his head full of questions, Mike doubts his abilities and his future at the highest level. Several factors were then decisive for the rest of his career: the support of his relatives, the meeting of his fiancee Marie – a medical student – and the offer to ride with a factory Derbi within the Finnish team Ajo.

    Sacrificing his savings, Mike seizes this opportunity he knows to be the last chance. Thanks to the support and help of the FFM and Claude Michy, promoter of the GP of France, the Frenchman integrated an excellent structure and won a brilliant fourth place from the opening GP in Qatar! (read).
