The contract offered by Yamaha last Tuesday – at the same time as Rossi – is the "best" that would have been given to him since his debut in 2008 on the M1, affirms the defending champion, brilliant winner of the opening round in Qatar.
And yet, he chose not to sign this extension estimated at some 8 million per season … For what reasons? The first that automatically comes to mind is that he is studying the offer of a competing manufacturer, such as Ducati, some of whom claim that they would be ready to pay 10 million to recruit the Mallorcan.

"I only have one offer from Yamaha on the table, although I will make my decision in a few days, two or three weeks at the most," he announced, brushing aside the rumors saying that he was would complain about a lack of consideration at Yam ‘for the benefit of his famous teammate.
"I never said there was any lack of support with the team. That’s the conclusion some people have drawn, but I never said that.".
If this statement concerning his contract is correct, Lorenzo would therefore seek only one thing: to raise the stakes! A potentially dangerous strategy as Lin Jarvis has already warned that Yamaha will not leave its offer on the table for very long…
