Victim of a (13th) and by (abandonment), the HRC official calmly approaches this third race at home. "The Aragón circuit is one of my favorites, in general I feel comfortable there and I can drive very well," warns the world championship leader. "I can’t wait to ride in front of my fans, especially this year because it will be the first time that a circuit has named a corner after me".
"The Ducatis are fast and consistent on all circuits"
"This year we took the lead in the championship while last year we were level on points, but that does not mean that it is folded!", Tempers Marquez. "On the contrary, we have to keep working hard because it seems that the Ducatis are fast and consistent on all circuits … We have to find something that allows us to fight against them as best as possible. In Aragón we have will try to be competitive from the start by quickly finding a good base to prepare for the weekend ".

Currently 7th in the championship with 110 points, Johann Zarco recalls that "the Aragón circuit is a terrible track where I have fought several times, so it would be fantastic to fight less this year, but to be honest I don’t know what awaits me "…
"This year, I have the impression of having problems on many circuits, so maybe that will be the track on which I will have the least difficulties", continues the Tech3 rider who had finished. "Anyway, the goal now is to secure the best place for the first independent driver. The championship is tight between Crutchlow, Petrucci and me, so that’s the first goal: to be smart and take the points. to finish ahead of them until the end of the year ".
As far as I can remember, this is one of the rare pre-race statements where Johann Zarco does not aim more or less openly for the top 5 … It must be said that since the announcement of his arrival at, the driver French no longer appears in the outposts which he regularly occupied. Hopefully the Aragon GP this weekend will allow him to return to an upward spiral !
Drivers’ objectives at the GP of Aragon
Andrea Dovizioso (Ducati), 2nd in the championship : "The MotorLand of Aragón is really a great circuit, quite original and very different from that of Misano where I won for the first time in MotoGP two weeks ago. It is also a track on which we still have struggled a bit, but during the test at the end of August we drove really well and I think this time we can fight for the victory. I expect to be fast but Jorge (Lorenzo, his teammate) and Marc (Marquez , first in the championship on Honda, Editor’s note) are also driving very hard on this track so it won’t be easy "…
Valentino Rossi (Yamaha), 3rd in the championship : "It is again an intense GP that promises to be. The Aragon circuit is not one of my favorites, but we will try everything because as always, we will try to do our best. Recently we did a test here, so we will use all the data available to improve our performance over the weekend. We want to fight for the podium. We will have to work well from day one, because we want to get back on the podium ".
Jorge Lorenzo (Ducati), 4th in the championship : "After the Misano race (finished, editor’s note), I managed to turn the page fairly quickly. I realized that we were wrong and I drew some interesting conclusions. At MotorLand, where I ‘was on the podium last year (editor’s note), I think we can bet on the strengths of our bike. The test we did three weeks ago was very positive and now we’re coming back here being well prepared, with very clear ideas. After a crash, we tackle the next race even more determined to do well. We will show that we can continue to fight until the end ".
Maverick Viñales (Yamaha), 5th in the championship : "I’m very happy to go to Aragon. For me all the Spanish events are special with the atmosphere and the fans who are always there to support the Spanish riders. It’s like my second national Grand Prix and I know that we can perform here with the M1. It is also one of my favorite circuits with this track, so in Aragon we can be very fast. It is very important to stay focused and continue to improve Grand Prix after Grand Prix, to achieve the best possible adjustment of our bike. Last year in Aragon we failed at the gates of the podium (editor’s note) because we had problems with the tires and the race was difficult … This year I want to fight for the podium. I’m optimistic because after our test a few weeks ago, I think we can do a good job ".
Cal Crutchlow (Honda LCR), 6th in the championship : "I can’t wait to ride, the bike is going well and we had a good result in Misano (, Editor’s note), just like in Austria (, Editor’s note) and Brno (, Editor’s note). At the start it will be difficult to go as fast as the guys who tested here, but it’s not a track where we have trouble finding speed so we’ll see. The weekend is shaping up to be hot and dry and once again , we will aim for the top 5 and the podium ".
Andrea Iannone (Suzuki), 9th in the championship : "I’m happy to be racing in Aragon because I like the Motorland layout and I think it can be a favorable track for our GSX-RR. We’re on a positive trend, so I hope we won’t no problem and the weekend will go smoothly. Unfortunately I did not take part in the two team test days last month here because I was not in perfect physical condition. But Alex (Rins, his teammate, Editor’s note) and Sylvain (, Editor’s note) were able to collect important information which will help the whole team to prepare well for this race. I hope that not having taken part in the tests will not cause me problems ".
Alex Rins (Suzuki), 10th in the championship : "I can’t wait to race in Aragon because it will be my real national GP and I will have lots of friends around me to cheer me on. We did some tests here a few weeks ago which turned out to be very positive "We have important data to get off to a good start. We recently worked on our ability to be efficient and consistent in preparing for the race, to get off on the right foot from the start of the weekend, so we will continue like this." The Misano race taught us once again that the start is crucial, so progressing in qualifying can be very useful to us. We’ll see how it goes in the race, the layout is great and it suits our bike well. my best for the team, for my fans and for the Suzuki fans. ”
Dani Pedrosa (Honda), 11th in the championship : "I always like going to Aragón, like every time I ride in front of my fan club and my home crowd. I also like the track, I had good results here and it would be nice to have another one . I can’t wait to enjoy one more Spanish GP! "
Aleix Espargaro (Aprilia Gresini), 18th in the championship : "Last year I was very competitive in Aragón (, Editor’s note) and it will not be easy to repeat this performance. The level of the championship has increased incredibly and we must continue to work without stopping to reduce the gap on the leaders. The tests at Misano were really important. I hope to be able to progress further and to fight regularly in the top 10 ".
Scott Redding (Aprilia Gresini), 21st in the championship : "The Aragón circuit is not easy to understand, but I like it. After the Misano test, I think I will be a little more competitive. We need realistic objectives: to work well to prepare for the race, make the right choices and fight for points "(up to 15th place, Editor’s note).
