Dourdou rally: the Toniutti roundup !

First reconnaissance lap of the specials under a prologue supposed to take place peacefully … But that went a little differently for Tanguy Brebion, pilot of the Husqvarna 701 SM n ° 8, who got stuck in one from the passage to Golinhac! More fear than harm, nothing broken and it leaves with a "calmed" pilot…
At the first stopwatch, in Golinhac, Julien Toniutti timidly opens the ball on the handlebars of the Aprilia 1100 Tuono V4 Fassou / Factory in 2’40.93 and sticks 1.63 seconds to Bruno Schiltz on the handlebars of his KTM 290 SUperduke R (2 ’42, 56).
Superb third place for Frederic Galtier (KTM 1290 Superduke R) who surprised with a respectable clock of 2’43.40.
At the next special, Mouret and Julien did it again and set the best time this time with 2.61 seconds over Bruno (1,52.92 against 1,55.53)! Christophe Velardi (Ducati 1200 Multistrada) wakes up and takes the third fastest time in 1: 56.11.
The first loop continues: navigation and attention will be the key words of this rally! If the top pilots manage to complete their lap without taking penalties, this is not the case for all … The navigation is severe and the imposed hourly average of 60km / h leaves very little time for hesitation or small errors in the course !
After 20 minutes of assistance (scheduled between each tour), it starts again for the second night loop.
In Golinhac, the Aprilia 1100 Tuono V4 "toned up" for a rally still dominates everyone in 2’38.88. Bruno Schiltz has reduced a little the gap which separated him from Julien on this special on the first lap and climbs his KTM 1290 Superduke R still in second position in 2’40.32 in front of Laurent Filleton (KTM 1290 Superduke R n ° 4) in 2’41.44.
Note on this special the remarkable result of Florian Lemoigne who leads his Kawasaki 650 Versys to seventh position in the scratch, one place behind Christophe Velardi’s Ducati 1200 Multistrada but above all to first place in Rally 2 Tecnoglobe, two places ahead of the leader of the Rallye 2 Tecnoglobe category who is none other than Maxime Mettra on the handlebars of his KTM 690 Duke 4.
Penalties are raining down! This night, although relatively short, will be etched in our memories: the route is not easy to follow and the slightest unforeseen cause an inevitable delay at the following time control (CH).
In addition, the stages – especially the one at Golinhac with its slippery downhill section (patches of molten tar wet with the evening humidity) – are rather tricky and the falls are going well! Fortunately, there will be no serious injuries, but the difficulty of the stage is increased! It’s a bit like a tourist rally … except that it’s exactly the opposite !
The crew of the Yamaha 1000 YZF n ° 282 sidecar, the Lepage couple with Pauline (Madame Lepage) on the handlebars (4th in the category in the provisional championship classification out of the 22 teams classified in the 2017 championship), prefer to give up on this stage. , the "monkey" having vomited in his helmet during a somewhat "muscular" turn in the special … Pauline, who is keen to keep her husband a little longer, will see fit not to continue this crazy stage !
Speaking of sidecars, the leading crew in the category, Alain Amblard and Alexandra Garcia (Suzuki 1300 Hayabusa), hampered by a loose front ball joint, is 30 seconds late at a CH and therefore receives 7.5 seconds of penalty (15 seconds per minute early or late).
Mouret, second and last night passage: there, "Super Julien Super Toniutti" on the handlebars of his super Aprilia 1100 super Tuono slams a super time of 1’52.58 and this time sticks 2.59 seconds to the KTM 1290 Superduke R by Bruno Schiltz. Velardi is third.
Bad luck for Maxime Mettra of the CTM83 team: victim of a lighting failure in the middle of the special, he lost more than a minute on his measured time. Sonia Barbot (KTM 690 Duke), started a minute later, will be surprised at the end of the bend by Maxime driving blindly in the dark in slow motion and will almost hit her! She will serve as his guide after this last special to allow him to reach the finish of the stage, in accordance with the legendary solidarity of rallymen … and women, for once !
