Face to face Honda 600 Silverwing – Suzuki Burgman 650: maximum pleasure in maxiscooters ?
In the shadow of the 500 Tmax, the Suzuki Burgman 650 and the Honda 600 Silver Wing are attracting more and more bikers, including – above all? – in winter. What are the reasons for this success ? Comparative test of two competitors with very different qualities.
Conclusion: very different programs
Close on paper, our two maxiscooters therefore offer very different programs.
Unconvincing on the road, the Silverwing 600, on the other hand, will prove to be a brilliant, luxurious and efficient trans-suburban utility. It will have to be confined to a reasonable use, which it will assume perfectly with its very safe braking.
Displayed just under € 8,000 with standard ABS, the Honda is the cheapest of the Japanese maxiscooters … which is worth thinking about seriously, especially as it will be stolen from you less than ‘a Tmax !
For its part, the Burgman 650 will of course fulfill with good grace a motorcycle-work-sleep use, but it will be savored more in the long distance and in the great outdoors. It is a real invitation to travel, alone or in pairs, with weapons and luggage and (almost) in all weathers … The price remains – especially with the Executive Winter Pack model of our test – of 10 499 €, which still expensive for a scooter…
But if we compare it to the some 20,000 € that you have to pay for a BMW R 1200 RT or the more than 30,000 € for a Honda 1800 Gold Wing … the price of the Burgman can be put into perspective with its services. barely inferior, at least in terms of equipment and comfort.
Finally, note that there remains in the Suzuki catalog the basic version of the Burgman 650, devoid of the bubble and electric mirrors, ABS and passenger backrest at a price of 7,999 €. Similarly, for southerners or tough guys, the stock version of the Burgman 650 Executive, without heated handles and saddle, is exchanged for € 9,999. Frequent travelers will find their happiness among all these versions !
