While the Parisian dealer, specializing in motorcycles of character (Triumph, MV Agusta, Mecatwin, Bimota, Aprilia, Moto Guzzi, etc.), has just been appointed to become the exclusive importer of the Norton brand in France (read), its founder and director, Thierry Stapts, agreed to answer our questions.
Site. : Thierry Stapts, you are passionate about European motorcycles of character, at the head of Paradise Motorcycles since 1994. What are the reasons which pushed you to import Norton in France ?
Thierry stapts : I’ve always been passionate about racing, I started with motocross and speed. I have also raced in Superkart 250 and participated in several championships (France, Europe and World) as well as in Sport Prototypes. So I used rubber a lot on the English circuits at the time! Personally, I am a fan of English motorcycles in general and a true Norton fan since I was a child. For years, I have been listening … and when Stuart Garner announced the brand buyout and the return of the motorcycles, it was impossible not to try it! We talked a lot and we had good contact straight away with him and his team..
M.-N.C. : With Triumph, MV Agusta, Mecatwin, Bimota, Aprilia, Moto Guzzi, NCR and now Norton, which brand (s) are still missing to satisfy your passion ?
T. S. : The arrival of Norton truly completes our offering and we are positioning ourselves as specialists in motorcycles with a strong image. The objective now is to respond as best as possible to the demands of our customers and to provide them with a high level of satisfaction. This goes through the welcome, service and quality of accessories distributed with Mecatwin, MV Corse, NCR and MotoCorse.
M.-N.C. : What is the market share of a manufacturer like Norton in England ?
T. S. : 100 Commando SE have been produced, most of which are already reserved. As far as we are concerned, we should deliver for France: 20 Commando Special Edition (carbon pack), 50 Commando Sport and 30 Commando Cafe Racer.
M.-N.C. : What are the prospects for a brand like Norton in France ?
T. S. : There is a lot of enthusiasm for the brand, with a lot of emails sent to England. The interest is therefore important and we must now respond to these enthusiasts of all ages and deliver them Nortons! We must introduce the brand in our territory and ensure its development over the long term. We are actively working towards this goal, in close collaboration with the factory.
M.-N.C. : When will French bikers be able to discover Nortons at Paradise ?
T. S. : We hope to have delivery of the first models during September, because the European homologation is not yet finalized. At that time we will be able to test the motorcycles. We have always operated this way at Paradise Moto and many trials will end with orders..
M.-N.C. : How would you define the Commando ?
T. S. : For having tried the Commando SE, I can confirm that it will be difficult not to fall for a Norton after a test! We are however used to distributing fantastic motorcycles, but with the Commando 961, a new category was born, without comparison with already existing models. !
M.-N.C. : At what prices will the three models be sold ?
T. S .: The Commando SE will be offered at € 18,590, the Commando Sport at € 14,990 and the Commando Cafe Racer at € 16,790, turnkey prices including VAT (excluding registration card and license plate).
