New success for JPMS
Despite unfavorable weather, the 4th Professional Motorcycle and Scooter Days which ended yesterday in Lyon are a new success: with 30% more attendance compared to last year, the mayonnaise seems to have taken hold..
The 4th Professional Motorcycle and Scooter Days (JPMS), which were held for the second consecutive year at the Eurexpo Fair in Lyon on Sunday and Monday, attracted "exactly 4,474 visitors (2,453 Sunday and 2021 Monday) including 2,050 points of sale (against 1,125 in 2005), an overall increase of 27% compared to 2005", explain the organizers.
"I was hoping for 5,000", confesses to Moto-Net Jean-Pierre Bonato, co-head of JPMS with Alice Evenement,"but given the weather conditions, the results remain satisfactory with 5,930 motorcycle professionals gathered at the JPMS". Most visitors to southwestern France, blocked by snow, could not make the trip and some would have even put"eleven o’clock to come from Bordeaux !"
"What is very important this year", continues Jean-Pierre Bonato,"is that nearly 1,000 visitors came to attend the two full days". With a third of additional visitors compared to last year but a number of exhibitors doubled in aisles twice as wide (20,000 m2), these JPMS mathematically gave off a much less energized atmosphere than the year before. latest.
"People were able to meet more calmly, because we must not forget that JPMS is a working meeting for professionals.", positive Jean-Pierre Bonato:"if you put a cubic centimeter of grenadine syrup in half a glass of water, the result will be significantly redder than in a whole bottle. But in the end, you will always have taken the same dose of sugar !"
189 exhibitors were therefore gathered to present 710 brands (read) during the two days of traditional closure of points of sale.
In partnership with the distributor AFAM, Philips is launching its first motorcycle lamps: the MotoVision and the ExtraDuty. According to the manufacturer, the MotoVision "could see further by producing 40% whiter light and projecting a light beam 10 to 20 m longer than standard motorcycle headlights".
Besides being able to see better, this range should also allow bikers to be seen better. "According to a survey carried out by the European Union, 33% of motorcycle accidents in Europe are caused by the fact that other road users do not properly assess the position of the motorcycle", recalls Philips. MotoVision could therefore provide a semblance of solution to the visibility problem of two-wheelers, by offering their optics increased power but above all a specific orange reflection … !
For their part, ExtraDuty would benefit from a lifetime "significantly higher thanks to the use of a high resistance filament that can withstand vibrations up to 20G".
Lamps MotoVision (models H4 and H7) and ExtraDuty (H4, H7, HS1, S2 models) should be available around 25 euros each at the end of February. They should only be distributed in specialist motorcycle shops, in order to prevent motorists from grabbing them….
In the niche that still carries safety, two brands are interested in the protection of the biker legs, too often under protected:
Squad had not skimped on the means, with a Hummer suspended from a mobile crane by … one of his jeans! The secret ? The Armalith, "only fabric in the world to have such protection in a single layer", swags the manufacturer.
Obtained by assembling cotton with a fiber "until then reserved for space, military and offshore applications", these jeans would offer"very high resistance to abrasion, snags and tears" while maintaining "lightness, hydrophilicity, ventilation and washability"of your favorite 501 … The small French brand entrusted stuntman Remy Julienne with carrying out a series of official tests according to the standard used by the FFM during these certifications. In the end, the pants would resist 4.6 seconds, that’s 2 tenths less than 750 g / m2 bovine leather, but 2.5 seconds more than 100% cotton jeans. Squad should be launched in early April, but they will change at the price of high-end leather pants (249 or 299 euros depending on the model).
More discreet, Australian pants Draggin Jeans were also presented for the first time in France through the Swiss distributor ADEO Broadcast. They use a proven fiber, Kevlar, which in "knitted" form "dissipates heat and allows air to pass through"Says the manufacturer. Kevlar reinforcements are therefore placed on the buttocks, knees and along the thighs. Many models exist, from basic jeans to the children’s model equipped with an elastic waist, through the zip-off that transforms into shorts when off the bike or the 100% Kevlar t-shirt to put under your light jacket and other jackets and reinforced jackets.
Present for three years on the European market, Draggin Jeans should land in France at the beginning of spring between 140 and 170 euros.
