What future for Voxan ?

The Clermont-Ferrand commercial court has pronounced the resolution of the plan to take over Voxan by MerkerYshima and the liquidation of the company. Relief among employees, despite the new uncertainties hanging over the French motorcycle…

By canceling the takeover of Voxan by MerkerYshima on Friday, the Clermont-Ferrand commercial court turned a new page in the history of French motorcycles, but did not necessarily sign the death warrant of the Issoire firm.

For the liquidator of the company, Maître Petavy, it is a "restart from zero". All may not be lost for the French motorcycle, which has about two weeks to find a new partner. Offers will be admissible for 15 days from Tuesday, before being examined by the court..

When the decision was announced yesterday, a clear relief was perceptible at Voxan, where we said we were living this moment "like a release"despite the preventive dismissal of 60 employees.

Mistrust of Merker, initially perceived as "providential savior"on Christmas Eve then like a"French technology looter", asserted himself more and more openly. To such an extent that according to certain sources close to the file, Voxan would have transmitted to Merker only unusable information, like plans without dimension or with false indications.

Contacted by Moto-Net, Didier Tirard, director of the Issoire plant, said to himself "rather optimistic about the future of Voxan", and considers that"Merker’s departure opens the door to better prospects. We will study new offers, possibly in addition to the takeover plan by executives that we proposed in December and then discarded in favor of Merker".

Several contacts have already been made with French or neighboring partners for a project "better suited to the size of Voxan, and aiming for financial balance with an annual production of 3 or 4000 motorcycles".

An objective shared by Michel Pagès, commercial director of Voxan, who confirms the need to "refocus the brand on high-end motorcycles, being profitable on each model but without trying to increase volume".

In the meantime, the Voxan Club de France "maintains until further notice"his plan to rally support for Voxan on April 20 in Paris.
