Visiting the Technoglobe stand of the JPMS as a partner of the Tripy electronic road book for La Legende des Heros de Paris à Dakar (read our), Hubert Auriol confirmed to us that the Legend of Heroes was not threatened by the recent cancellation of the Dakar (read and).

Site: Is the cancellation of the Dakar likely to have a negative impact on The Legend of Heroes ?
Hubert Auriol : No, I really don’t think so. Of course, this unfortunate cancellation was very bad news for everyone, but we communicated very well with our employees and we had no withdrawal! People have understood that today’s Dakar is something completely different from The Legend of Heroes. It’s a different universe, a different clientele…

M.-N.C. : Yet the countries crossed are the same !
H. A. : Exactly ! The Dakar is only a victim of its "over-media coverage"! Terrorist acts of the magnitude of those threatening the Dakar 2008 focus only on operations with a global reach. The Twin Towers of New York were the most concrete demonstration of this! An attack on a world-famous event like the Dakar would also have had enormous repercussions. At the Legend of Heroes, we are not there !

M.-N.C. : No risk, therefore ?
H. A. : The situation in Mauritania has been what it has been for some time. And with my experience of Africa (Hubert "practices" indeed the races on the African continent since 1983 as a runner then organizer, in particular of the Dakar until 2003, editor’s note), I decided to go! I know the areas to avoid, which are not necessarily new. Our route does not pass through any risky place. The Legend of Heroes 2008 will indeed take place !

The start of the Legend of Heroes will therefore be given from the Eiffel Tower on March 8, 2008 to arrive in Dakar on March 22, with the "Bivouac-Bivouac" raid for backpackers who will join each stage by road. Stay connected !
