Market reports - First half of 2015: Kymco's market report - KYMCO occasions

Kymco has just completed the first half of 2015 with an increase of + 10.1% and has a total of 1,428 registrations. The marketing manager of the Taiwanese brand in France, Charlotte Baille Barrelle, shares her impressions with MNC readers. First assessment…

Site: After six years of constant decline, the French motorcycle market returned to growth in 2014 with + 2.5% (read our). In the first half of 2015, the increase was limited to + 0.8% (read our). Should we be worried ?
Charlotte Baille Barrelle, Kymco Lux Marketing Manager:
Until the end of May, the market was still slightly negative. However, a fall in the market, even if it is small, is never a good sign. We must constantly seek new offers to attract an increasingly demanding customer. The novelty effect of a new product only lasts a year, or even two at best. Kymco has the strength to have a wide range that allows us to maintain our volumes.

MNC: Regarding Kymco, what is your assessment of your first six months of 2015? ?
C. BB. :
Kymco’s performance in the two-wheeler market is very positive. In fact, in the fiercely competitive 50 cc segment, which represents more than 50% of the total market, Kymco‘s sales volumes increased by + 6%. Kymco is therefore placed fourth in the segment. In the 125 cc segment, the launch of the DownTown 125 at the end of May was a success and enabled the brand to increase these volumes. Finally on the larger displacements, the DownTown 350 allows us to maintain this positive dynamic

MNC: For you, what is the highlight of this first half of the year? ?
C. BB. :
The arrival of some new products in the 125 cc segment shows us that despite a sluggish market, customers are very sensitive to new products and that with a good offer and a good network, it is possible to gain market share..

MNC: How is your second semester going? ?
C. BB. :
The second semester will be very competitive. Kymco dealers will be able to capitalize on the dynamics of the new GT DownTown ABS scooter. And the Paris two-wheeler show is great news !

MNC: Finally, the government has still not settled the question of the "retrofit" (read). How much does this lack of response impact your business ?
C. BB. :
No comment because we are not affected.
