Bradl, Aprilia-Gresini’s good surprise !
The announcement of these renewals, formalized yesterday by Aprilia Racing director Romano Albesiano, does not really come as a surprise: Bautista’s place was not threatened since he had signed one, while Bradl’s excellent adaptation on Aprilia logically suggested an extension for 2016.
Recall that the German driver has during the summer, after having broken his contract with his former team Forwards following the .
Quickly at ease on an RS-GP yet in full development, Bradl finished his first race on his handlebars – at – 20th, just six seconds behind his new teammate Alvaro Bautista, classified two places ahead..
The meticulous pilot from across the Rhine then secured a 14th place at the asp of Bautista (2 tenths behind at the finish!), Before falling to. With a new chassis recently validated by Bautista, he then finished 16th in, again in the wake of his box neighbor.
So many encouraging results which quickly prompted Aprilia to offer it a handlebar for 2016, the race department of Noale also appreciating the precision of the feedback of the n ° 6 whose experience on the Honda RCV at LCR then on the Yamaha M1 Open at Forwards is valuable.
"Stefan almost came to us by accident, it was the result of, but his change of bikes during the season was a pleasant surprise for me", explains Romano Albesiano.
"I can say without hesitation that Aprilia is the best team I have raced with in the world championship", affirms Stefan Bradl, delighted with his status as official pilot on the Aprilia which he intends to take in the Top 10 next year.
"I have great support from my technical team. Signing for 2016 will give me confidence for the next races and it’s also a great source of motivation for next season ".
Lowes will have to wait another season
This agreement, however, comes at the expense of Moto2 rider Sam Lowes, who had signed a pre-contract with Aprilia for next season. To keep the British rider patient, obviously disappointed with this turnaround, the Italian brand offered him to join the Gresini team in Moto2 in 2016 and at the same time ensure the development of the RS-GP.
With in the short term the possibility of driving the Aprilia factory MotoGP, normally from 2017 … and with the title of world champion in the intermediate category in his pocket according to Lowes’ "career plan" !
"I think I have the potential to win the championship and such an experienced team can provide me with the support I need to clinch the title in 2016".
"This will be my last year in Moto2 before moving to MotoGP and I am determined to leave the category as a world champion", projects the rider of just 25 years (since September 14), who will trade his current Speed Up against a Kalex. To follow naturally on MNC: stay connected !
