Suzuki polishes its Burgman 125 and 200 for 2014

One year after having perfected its sound, Suzuki granted an update to its Burgman 125, also available in 200 cc. The solid mechanical base hardly moves, but the aesthetics and ergonomics much more.
Unveiled today even on the sidelines alongside the V-Strom 1000 (to discover very quickly on MNC), the third generation of the Suzuki Burgman 125 will land at the end of the year in, where it will be offered at a price higher than the current version (3,499 euros for a 2013 model).

"Indeed, these Burgman will no longer be manufactured in Spain but in Thailand, which will generate a very slight inflation, in addition to the cost of development", tells us the marketing and communication manager of Suzuki France, Dominique Li-Pat-Yuen..
Because as for the flagship Burgman 650, Suzuki did not content itself with reviewing the plastic of its little GT scooter. According to our interlocutor at Suzuki France, the Japanese engineers would have optimized the engine, via the injection and the transmission.
"On the old version we could feel a slight leveling off in engine speed and speed", testifies the French manager, "however the new version eliminates this latency and now climbs without any pause towards its maximum speed".
At the same time, the 125 cc single-cylinder would prove to be more fuel-efficient by traveling 34.4 km on one liter of gasoline, or a consumption of 2.9 l / 100 km. The tank itself loses half a liter of capacity: 10.5 liters in all.
Practical aspects
The trunk volume under the saddle is estimated at 41 liters and can accommodate two full-type helmets. Still as big, it is now equipped with a light, very practical in the darkness of underground car parks..
On the practical side, the storage areas at the level of the apron have been enlarged and accommodate a 12V socket. We also note on the right stalk a warning command which did not exist on the previous versions 2002 then 2007.
This new Suzuki 2014 feature also receives a new dashboard, inspired by the one mounted on the Burgman 650. More modern and readable than the previous one, it indicates in particular the average consumption and has a maintenance indicator.
More generally, the Japanese also wanted to accentuate the resemblance with the king of GT maxiscooters, energizing its lines and redesigning its lights. "The better feel of materials also increases the family bond", continues Dominique Li-Pat-Yuen..
The saddle loses its small lumbar backrest but retains its very low height of 735 mm. The rider’s foot-to-ground access is all the more obvious as the scooter floor remains generously indented.
The facelift of the Burgman 125 2014 would also allow "to slip more easily thanks to a reduced frontal width". However, the technical sheet indicates the same width: 740 mm … The count is good, however, with regard to the height of the machine !
The Burgman is equipped with a new screen "higher than 110 mm", informs us the firm of Hamamatsu. In total, the new Suzuki scooter measures 1355 mm. The values โโof length, wheelbase, frame angle, frame and even weight (159 kg all full) do not vary: logical, since the chassis does not move !
Only one change is made at this level, but it is significant: the new discs of the Burgman 125 (still 240 mm, two-piston caliper at the front and single-piston at the rear) can be fitted with an ABS system. ‘origin Nissin, which weighs the whole only 2 kg.
