Yamaha is strengthening its offer in the large-wheeled scooter segment with the Xenter 125, a 2012 novelty that supports the X-City 125. Completely new both technically and aesthetically, the Xenter 125 scooter aims to steal the show from the bestseller of its kind, the Honda SH 125.
Sus at the Italian market !
Shunned by French scooter riders who blame it for its lack of space under the saddle, the large-wheeled scooter is on the rise on the other side of the Alps: in Italy, it is Honda’s best seller with no less than 34 000 SH (125, 150 and 300 cc) registered in 2010 !
So inevitably, such a success is envious: starting with Yamaha which decided to increase its presence in this category in 2012 with the Xenter (pronounce "X-Enter", specifies Yamaha Motor France). Slender and rather elegant, the new Yam ‘scooter features an original dual front optical system and a rear shell topped with passenger handles and a luggage rack.
Mounted on 16-inch rims with five pairs of sticks, the Xenter 125 is modern, like its successful LED light and its 100% digital console which indicates in particular the speed, time, level of ‘gasoline, ambient temperature and even maintenance reminders.
On the other hand, if "the saddle contains a trunk spacious enough to accommodate useful objects such as a raincoat or an anti-theft device", assures Yamaha, it only takes a look at the photo opposite to understand that the transport of the helmet must pass through the optional 39-liter top-case.
Future owners will console themselves with the large flat floor fitted with tie-down hooks that make it easy to carry a bag between the legs. They will also appreciate the glove box in the center of the handlebars, and the central and side crutches appreciable in town..
Powered by an all-new 125 cc single-cylinder engine, the Xenter develops 12.51 hp and 11.9 Nm of torque. Thanks to a forged aluminum piston, a ceramic-coated cylinder and a balancing wheel, this injected block connected to a continuous transmission would be as efficient as it is devoid of vibrations..
Compact, this 4-stroke mono is cooled by a radiator placed in a lateral position (as on the 1200 Super Tenere!), In order to optimize the space allocated to the footrests ("the largest in its category", affirm the Yamaha engineers).
Equipped with a motorcycle-inspired rear suspension (a single shock absorber placed parallel to the twin-tube chassis) and a telescopic fork, the Xenter 125 is braked by a 267 mm disc at the front and a 150 mm drum. in back. Both brakes work together with an integral braking system.
Light (142 kg all full) and accessible (785 mm seat height), the Yamaha Xenter 125 large-wheel scooter will be available in Sky Blue, Avalanche White and Midnight Black at a date and price that remain at specify.
