A new V-Strom designed for Europe
Aware that the juicy maxi-trails segment is developing mainly in Europe, the Hamamatsu coat of arms sent the team in charge of the V-Strom project for a week on the Old Continent. Ichimari-San also confirms that the engine of the DL1000 V-Strom 2014 is closely derived from the old V-Strom, but ensures that "the internal parts have been completely reworked and optimized to increase control from low to mid-range and acceleration performance ".
According to him, this V-twin produces a "unique sound" and is not stingy in character. Suzuki having always been an excellent engine manufacturer, this description should be true enough: MNC is eager to test this novelty to be sure. !
Teppei Eguchi, chassis model maker, assures us that this new V-Strom will meet the expectations of "demanding motorcyclists like me, who love sporty driving, but who also want the comfort and functional aspects of touring motorcycles".
Finally, the designer Tomoy Murakami returns to the stages of the design of this motorcycle and recalls in passing that it was the "big" DR750S which initiated the fashion for duckbills on the front of big trails in 1988…

For the record, the new V-Strom 1000 is powered by a V-twin of unknown displacement and power inserted into an aluminum frame. It will receive standard ABS, traction control (a first for Suzuki), radial-mount monobloc brake calipers (stolen from the 2011 GSX-R1000, dixit Tomohisa Ichimari), while luggage will be available as an option. Its official presentation is expected this fall, probably just before or during the Milan Motorcycle Show in November..
