News - The new Ducati are attacking in all directions! - Used DUCATI

After its MotoGP homologated on the road and its new Superbike – soon homologated on the track? – Ducati has four new products on its 2007 stand: the new Multistrada 1100, S4R and Sport Classic 1000, not to mention the Hypermotard ! Presentation.

After unveiling its Desmosedici RR (read) in June, and then its next Superbike 1098 (read) a few days ago, Ducati is preparing to market four new models in dealerships in 2007..

With the same new "1100 Desmo" engine, the Multistrada and Hypermotard set out to conquer French roads: the first came into direct confrontation with the Yamaha TDM, Triumph Tiger, Honda Varadero or Buell Ulysses while the second faced off against the Katoches…

The Bolognese firm also announces the imminent arrival of the new Monster S4R, equipped with the 130 horsepower Testastretta. Finally, SportClassics pilots will now be able to share their passion with a passenger !

Multistrada 1100: more torque !

Launched in 2003 (read), the Multistrada undergoes its first upgrade for 2007. For this, Ducati did not hesitate to increase its displacement and modify the clutch system. For the rest, there is no point in changing a winning team !

With an increased bore of 4 mm (it now measures 98 mm for 71.5 stroke), the engine of the Multistrada cube 1,078 cc compared to 992 cc in 2006. The power of the mill – air-cooled as tradition dictates – thus goes from 92 to 95 horses.

But it is the torque values that attract more attention: 103 Nm at 4,750 rpm against 92 Nm 250 revs higher for the 1,000 cc … This should give road trail a big boost – athletic ? – Italian, whose cycle part was not pushed to its limits.

The significant increase in torque in mid-range is not only due to the increase in displacement: the high engine has taken advantage of technological advances made on the Testastretta, resulting in the closing of the valve angle and the use of "hydrodynamic" camshaft bearings.

In terms of modifications, the presence of an oil bath clutch would allow, according to the manufacturer, to obtain "an excellent compromise between performance, reliability, quiet operation and lever effort".

The tubular chassis, 320 mm discs, suspensions (Marzocchi at the front, Sachs at the rear) and the sporty driving position continue to offer the Multistrada particularly efficient road capabilities..

Finally, we note the addition to the dashboard of an odometer indicating the distance traveled on the reserve and the addition of the "auto light off" system, switching off the lights if the engine is not started after 60 seconds..

Unfortunately, no changes were made to the seat, deemed too hard and too tilted forward. Similarly, we can regret that aesthetically the 1100 does not stand out at all from the 1000. On the other hand, we can rejoice in the stability of the price: 11 795 € incl..

Still available in S version, the Multistrada offers for € 1,700 more carbon parts and an Ohlins set derived from that fitted to the brand’s sports cars..

Hypermotard: the anti Katoche !

Ducati is also releasing a more exclusive model than the Multistrada 1100, called "Hypermotard". Equipped with the same engine, this new product is aimed at a more dynamic clientele fan of Supermoto.

According to Ducati, driving the Hypermotard would simply amount to "dominate the road"… It is true that perched on its high suspensions, the rider will surely have the pleasant sensation of flying over the asphalt. And from there to control the traffic, there is only one step !

A top speed exceeding 200 km / h – on the track of course! -, a power of at least 95 horses, a solid single-sided arm, an imposing fork and a double disc at the front: the Hypermotard has significant arguments to face the KTM Supermoto and Superduke !

In its S version, the Italian supermot even offers a 50mm Marzocchi fork, an Ohlins rear shock absorber, Brembo monobloc calipers, aluminum rims and a carbon finish..

But whatever the model – S or standard -, the Hypermotard will have a not insignificant family resemblance with its best Austrian enemies: the new 2007 Ducati has indeed the same face of "mosquito", ready to bite the first comer. .. The war of the big supermot ‘is officially open !

The S4R is gaining ground

On the roadster side, the S4R model rises in rank while retaining its price of € 12,595, or 2,400 less than the S4RS. However, the new S4R now benefits from the same "Testastretta" developing 130 hp, outside our borders of course..

To maintain the more affordable price of the S4R, Ducati has therefore chosen to replace the carbon parts with much less expensive plastic parts. But above all, unlike the S4RS equipped with an Ohlins package, the standard S4R version receives a Showa fork and a Sachs shock absorber..

Less prestigious, the suspension components should nonetheless live up to the leader of the Monster range and offer the driver satisfactory services: to be confirmed on the road! The hunt for Speed Triple, FZ1, Tuono or Corsaro (read) remains more open than ever…

SportClassics two-seater

Finally, the latest innovation from Ducati: the retro "SportClassics" models with or without fairing – Sport 1000 and Sport 1000 S therefore – are now equipped with a two-seater saddle..
