News - New in 2016: Ducati 959 Panigale, always more! - Used DUCATI

Launched this fall, the rumor of a new inflation of the Supersport Ducati was true: the yet recent 899 Panigale is already giving way to the 959 Panigale, whose cube-twin is now 955cc. Either more or less the same displacement as a classic 4-cylinder Hypersport ! At this rate, the big Panigale currently …

Launched this fall, the rumor of one was true: the yet recent is already giving way to the 959 Panigale, whose cube-twin is now 955cc. Either more or less the same displacement as a classic 4-cylinder Hypersport! At this rate, the big Panigale currently 1200cc will soon cubic 2 liters !

The stigmata of Euro4 can be seen in the exhaust

As on all 2016 Ducati to Euro4 standards, the 959 Panigale exhibits a larger exhaust in order to meet the new requirements in terms of pollutant emissions. On this small 955 cc Superbike, this involves the use of a double exit which is much less harmonious than the previous one, opening under the engine….

Thanks to this increase in displacement obtained by an increase in the stroke (from 57.2 to 60.8 mm), the power now reaches 157 hp, against 148 on the 899. But it is above all the torque which progresses significantly since it goes from 99 Nm to 107.4 Nm.

At the Milan show, Ducati France also assures us that the torque curve would be much fuller, guaranteeing better use of the engine..

The 959 undergoes in passing a small facelift mainly concentrated on its front part, like the one brought last year to the 1299 Panigale. The small also recovers the less slippery toe clips than the large one, but not its single-sided arm: as on the 899, the 959 Panigale remains equipped with a swingarm with two uprights..

It weighs 176 kg dry and comes standard with a shifter, several driving modes, a Bosch configurable ABS, adjustable traction control and an electronic device to manage the intensity of the engine brake. As on the previous model, the frame is of the monocoque type and the twin heads are directly attached to it for better compactness and flawless rigidity.

Superbike equipment + Superbike displacement = Superbike price…

Although a notch below a 1299 Panigale S, the 959’s peripherals are geared towards high-end: Showa Big Piston inverted fork, fully adjustable Sachs side-mounted single-shock, one-piece Brembo radial brake calipers, and Pirelli tires Diablo Rossi Corsa. Clearly, this is not an entry-level motorcycle with questionable gear !

The downside of this continual increase in engine capacity and its cutting-edge equipment is inevitably felt in the rather steep price of this 959 Panigale: € 16,590 in red and € 16,790 in white, a paint pigment oddly more expensive in Bologna. ! The difference becomes more and more tenuous compared to a Japanese 1000 cc Hypersport, like the all new Yamaha R1 at € 18,500…

Unlike the 1299, this little Panigale is only available in one version and is not available in an S or R model, more or less sharp and richly equipped. Its arrival is scheduled for mid-December, tells us Ducati France.
