Triumph Tiger 800 / XC and Daytona 675R: ready to attack
Triumph waited for EICMA 2010 to deliver the latest information on its two Tiger 800 and 800 XC trails and its sporty Daytona 675R. Availability dates, prices, technical sheets and interviews with brand managers are on MNC !
The Daytona 675 R for the track
Also tracked by our British counterparts (and Hungarian, read in particular), the Daytona 675 R is currently on display at the Milan Motor Show..
Rightly considering that its 675 cc “Tripeul” is the strong point of its Supersport, Triumph was content to renew it on the Daytona R in its original version developing 125 hp at 12,600 rpm and 72 Nm at 11,700 rpm in the free world, compared to 106 hp and 65 Nm in France.
The only modification granted to the Daytona 675 R compared to the "standard" in this area: the standard presence of the shifter, particularly appreciable on the track. !
The frame and rims are also kept as they are, but the English have equipped their sports "of the best current Ohlins components, namely the NIX30 fork and the TTX36 shock", explains Eric Pecoraro, marketing manager at Triumph France.
Although the Kayaba suspenders in the standard version allowed for sharp adjustments – distinguishing between high and low compression! – and offered impressive road holding, the Swedish suspensions should satisfy even more pilots with an irreproachable "track holding".
At the same time, the Daytona 675 R receives new brake calipers: "bye bye" the Nissins and "hello" the Brembos which, in addition to being more efficient – or else it is nothing to understand! – combine perfectly with the new exclusive "Eclipse White" color of the motorcycle.
A few carbon parts complete the look of this true compe-client! In the end, however, Triumph does not note any difference between the weight of the Daytona and that of its version R: all facts, the two motorcycles display 185 kg on the scale. It is therefore really in the bends that the difference will be felt !
"This novelty will be displayed below the 14,000 euros mark, which is not excessive given the unit price of the new equipment. !", Eric Pecoraro tells us in conclusion (see our video interview opposite top right). So:" My kingdom for a Daytona 675 R "? To be continued: stay tuned !
