The particularly harsh weather of November 2019 did not in any way slow down the French motorcycle market: its 9,814 registrations, on the contrary, represent an increase of + 7.5% compared to last year.. The big cubes tow, the 125 follow. MNC takes stock.

Scootomobilists (those B license holders who choose to move more freely on the 125 cc handlebars) and bikers (the real ones!) Have all perfectly grasped the interests of this mode of travel or life. The proof ? Even the gray does not discourage them !

"The bad weather which followed one another throughout the month of November led to a much surplus pluviometry on a national scale (approximately + 80% for a total of 166 millimeters)", records Meteo France in its own report, classifying November 2019 in 4th place in the rainiest November (over 60 years of data).

"With all this rain, the sun has sometimes shone by its absence as in Biarritz (50 hours of sunshine, 1966 record, 51 h, beaten), Pau (57 h beating the 2013 record, 59 h) or Ajaccio ( 87 h beating the 2000 record, 88 h) ". Something to be brooding, no ?

With its 9,814 registrations, the French motorcycle market responds in the negative. Lovers of scooters and motorcycles over 50 cc (and the professionals who sell them to them!) Were not struck by disaster last month.

Compared with November 2018, the evolution is positive: + 7.5% to be exact (against + 11.8% since January 1). This performance is doubly remarkable: rotten this year, the weather was radiant a year ago in our territory..

Another reason for satisfaction for manufacturers, the month of November 2019 had two working days less than its 2018 counterpart (19 Vs 21), i.e. a lack of to win register by -9.5%. In terms of store openings (Tuesday to Saturday), MNC has 21 days over two months.

After a strong October, the 125 cc market slowed down significantly: sales of small motorcycles and scooters fell from 5,000 units to just over 3,000 (-37%). Compared to last year, however, there is a further increase: + 4.9%. How is it distributed according to the brands ?

The leader Honda continues to play the locomotives (+ 26.1%) and Yamaha is also putting coal (+ 11.4%). Conversely, Piaggio (-14%), Peugeot (-21.8%), Sym (-16.2%) and Kymco (-27.4%) are all backtracking. Orcal (+ 16.7%) and Mash (+ 6.7%) fuel well, while KTM (-25.5%) and Suzuki (-31.3%) go nuts.

In the larger engines, the drop in speed is slightly less: -30% compared to October 2019. Faced with the rain, motorcyclists are more courageous, more motivated or better equipped than “scootomobilists”! Compared to November 2018, the 6,677 registrations represent an increase of + 8.8%.

In this large cube market, Yamaha plunges -11.9% and is at the same level – or almost – as BMW (+ 26.1%) and Honda (+ 12.9%). Kawasaki (+ 8.5%) follows the general trend, Harley (+ 0%) is stagnating and Triumph (+ 9.7%) grapples. KTM (-7.3%) suffers, Suzuki (+ 4.5%) struggles, Ducati (+ 21.9%) restarts and Royal Enfield (+ 118%) still draws.
