Paris Motor Show - E-Metropolis Concept: the Peugeot three-wheeled scooter becomes trendy - Peugeot occasions

Alongside its two P2X motorcycle concepts (125 cc roadster and 300 cc cafe racer), Peugeot unveils a prototype of an electric three-wheel scooter directly derived from its thermal Metropolis at the 2018 Paris Motorcycle Show. This E-Metropolis will be one of the stars of the stand of the French manufacturer, which is preparing its comeback in motorcycle production…

Presented as a concept, this E-Metropolis receives a 49 hp electric motor installed in place of the 400 cc thermal block. This is the main change made: trim, running gear and chassis are identical, with the exception of the Ohlins suspension installed in a central position on this "battery-powered" prototype..

Not sure, however, that this top-of-the-range mono-shock absorber will be kept on the E-Metropolis as standard, for which the market date and price are not communicated. The enticing peripherals of concepts are indeed often sacrificed on the altar of production costs !

This E-Metropolis unveils a hatch between its front lights which gives access to an on-board charger of 3 kW, which would allow recharging "to 80%" in less than "four hours on a type 2 socket". Peugeot, quite discreet about the characteristics of its electric tripod, does not give any indication as to autonomy.

The Lion brand, majority owned by the Indian Mahindra, does not provide more information on the type of batteries used, probably lithium-ion. Peugeot is however very inspired to describe the behavior of its E-Metropolis…

"E-Metropolis is an exceptional driving sensation," assures the French manufacturer. "Indeed, the motor being electric, the weight of the vehicle is therefore lighter and as if suspended, which gives the pilot a feeling of levitating driving".

MNC is eager to "levitate" on its handlebars and measure the effects of this weight gain attributed to the electric motor, admittedly lighter than a thermal block … if we disregard the batteries necessary for its power supply !

Motorcycles to discover…

It should also be remembered that Peugeot is starting a return to motorcycles for 2019, which according to our information should take the form of a 125 cc roadster and a 300 cc cafe racer with a neo-retro look. These new motorcycles would be built in India by Mahindra and not in the French factory located in Mandeure, victim of job cuts as part of this revival of the two-wheel activity…
