After having proceeded in April to then in September with the recall of R1 and R1M for one, Yamaha announces today a new recall of YZF-R1 and YZF-R1M 2015 (read our) for a "risk of rupture of pinions of the box of speeds ".
"2nd gearbox gears can break when under extremely high stress", while "3rd and 4th gear gears can be deformed when subjected to extremely high stress during sporting use" , explains the manufacturer, stressing that "in extreme cases, the pinions can break".
Yamaha has therefore decided to proceed "as a precaution" with the replacement of the complete primary and secondary shafts of the gearbox on the YZF-R1 and YZF-R1M 2015 models ".
The motorcycles concerned are the YZF-R1 model 2015 (2CR2) whose serial numbers are between RN322 00000301 and RN322 0000933 and the YZF-R1M model 2015 (2KS2) whose serial numbers are between RN327 00000301 and RN327 0000446, i.e. a total of 706 machines for the French market.
Customers who own these R1 models will be notified by registered mail so that they can make an appointment as soon as possible with their Yamaha dealer who will perform this service free of charge..
