New look, front axle worthy of a sports motorcycle, 12 V socket and keyless start: the king of maxi-scooters is offering a series of developments aimed at consolidating its sovereignty among scooter riders. And for fans of even more stylish Tmax, Yamaha offers the special edition Iron Max.

"A major development"

"The 2015 model does not look like a revolution, but symbolizes a major evolution", assures Yamaha about its new Tmax 530, the bestseller of the maxi-scooter category since its appearance in 2001 "despite the appearance many competitors ", notes the crest of Iwata.

In response to this rise in power from ever sharper and more ambitious rivals (notably the), the Tmax undergoes a facelift on its front part, now equipped with a sharper dual LED optic, a redesigned mudguard and ” a pointed notch in place of the position light of the previous model.

The mirrors for their part inherit longer arms and fixed more in height: a good weight for efficiency.

Much appreciated for its excellent dynamic behavior – combining the maneuverability of a scooter with the rigor of a motorcycle -, the Tmax 2015 reinforces its sporty temperament by equipping itself with a 41 mm inverted fork and radial brake calipers with 4-piston, peripherals similar to those equipping the Supersport !

The practical aspects are further improved thanks to a new instrumentation with speed and engine speed by hands and a red backlit LCD screen, but also via the appearance of a 12V socket and a transponder key allowing to start without inserting key in the Neiman.

This electronic device also remotely activates the steering lock and the saddle opening. Only the closing of the glove box and that of the fuel tank cap use good old locks! In terms of engine, the Tmax 530 does not change one iota, its twin cylinder still outputting 46.5 hp and 52.3 Nm.

Due to its new oversized peripherals and additional equipment, the Yamaha maxi-scoot, on the other hand, takes two kilos on the scale, with a full weight announced at 219 kg without ABS (222 kg with).

Hopefully the price, already wickedly high for a scooter (€ 10,299 without ABS!), Does not follow the same trend…

Tmax Iron Max

At the same time as the launch of this new Tmax vintage, Yamaha unveils a special Iron Max edition recognizable by its golden fork sleeves and brake piston covers, its specific saddle and its matte black rims with gray stripes..

Only available in "Liquid Darkness" black, this Iron Max also adopts a metallic colored headlight interior and a white backlit dashboard..

The rest – engine, chassis, peripherals, etc. – is identical to the new 2015 model presented above.

Yamaha announces the arrival in dealerships of this maxi-scooter intended "for customers looking for a certain aesthetic perfection" (just that!) For the month of December 2014, as for the "standard" Tmax 530.
