Motorcycle concept: the return of the Yamaha SR400 ?

To celebrate 35 years of the SR400, Yamaha will unveil a customized version made with tuner Wrenchmonkees at the Milan Motorcycle Show (Italy). As for the "XJR Cafe Racer Yard Built", this concept will be reproducible thanks to a kit of spare parts.

"An exceptionally unique object"

For the Danish company, the approach is not totally new since its founders, Per Nielson and Nicholas Bech, have already made superb creations on the basis of SR400 (see photo gallery below).

The current project could prove even more attractive, however, since Yamaha promises that it will push "the boundaries of transformation" and that it will result in the creation of an "exceptionally unique object". Just that !

Source of many preparations in Japan – where its old lines are very popular – the SR400 is derived from the famous SR500 discovered in 1978.

Driven by an air-cooled 399 cc 4-stroke single-cylinder, this simple motorcycle with modest performance (27 hp and 29 Nm of torque) switched to injection in 2009 in order to continue its little path in line with the anti-pollution standards.

Towards marketing in Europe ?

The fact that Yamaha decides to put it back on the front of the stage with this preparation by Wrenchmonkees is not innocent, insofar as persistent rumors point to a possible reintroduction of the SR400 on the European market….

Thanks to, this nice retro motorcycle could give itself a second youth by targeting beginners looking for a "typical" and a little vintage motorcycle.
