Back on a crazy day
New twist on the Ultimate Rally! After application of the (multiple!) Penalties, it is finally Patrick Curtat (KTM Supermoto 990 n ° 4) who wins this first edition of the Ultimate Rally 2009 ahead of Nicolas Derrien (KTM 690 SM 652 n ° 18) and David Morgan ( KTM SM 990 n ° 45), a nice KTM trifecta! Back on this last crazy day…
Ultimate Rally: the end !
A sunny day with plenty of "gardening" … A simple summer Saturday? No ! Rally, real, a thing of men as they say !
Wilfried Tallone therefore opened the ball (read) with the best time of the first special of the day (2’43.231), almost three seconds ahead of Etienne Godart (2’44.785).
Small mishap before the second special: a false indication of the road book imposes a course error on Wilfried which causes him to lose 30 minutes! Big penalty then, but certainly debatable … Not disarmed, Wil also won the second special, still ahead of Etienne Godart second and Pascal Leger third.
The connection is still just as hard … A few more penalties, then a second passage through the two stages. This time, the leading trio are mixed: best time for Pascal Leger in the special at the Barrage de Prat in 2’30.167, followed by Etienne Godart in 2’31.801 and Wil Tallone in 2’31.820.
Finally arrives the last special of this first Ultimate Rally: Wilfried Tallone takes the blow by once again setting himself the lead in 2’38.475 ahead of Pascal Leger and his Triumph 675 Daytona (2’41.071). Etienne Godart, riding his Ducati 1100 Monster, gets the third fastest time in 2’44.314.
We also salute the remarkable performance of Renaud Fanon, leader of the French Championship in the Classic category: at the controls of a Honda 1000 VTR on the Ultimate Rally, he secures the fourth fastest time in 2’45.338 !
Big congratulations also to Evelyne Colombet, our "Boubou" of the French rally championship (above left): she was out of the race when she arrived in Marcillat, but she participated among the fifty other courageous and finishes this stage in scratch 25th place, excluding penalties !
See you on Monday for the rest of the podiums and the complete classification of the Ultimate Rally 2009: stay tuned !
