The Ultimate Rally 2010 unveils itself at the JPMS
The ultimate 2010 vintage rally was officially unveiled during the JPMS, with the same thing as last year on the menu, with a few improvements. Open to all, this demanding rally promises another good motorcycle ride. Request the program !
Those who took part last year (read our) know: the Ultimate Rally is really something to experience !
But although very extreme, this "ultimate rally" is nonetheless accessible to the average biker. Those addicted to the hundredth of a second in the special are not necessarily the law, because the Ultimate requires above all endurance, attention and a good mastery of the road book. The stages can therefore make it possible to make up for any penalties taken during the road layout, but not necessarily to make the rally win….
On the JPMS Derbi stand, the organizer Patrick Bournisien nonetheless specifies that "it’s a race open to everyone, but with a minimum of preparation, especially for reading a night road book"… Advice that Patrick did not fail to lavish on the few beginners already registered !
Mandatory concentration for the concentration step !
Derbi bets on the Ultimate ! |
Three official pilots are entered by Derbi which offers to sell "at cost price"all the models in its 125 range to drivers registered for the Ultimate Rally tempted by the adventure in this displacement: it is possible, the organizer has done it (read) ! |
On June 24, 2010, it is no longer at midnight like last year but at 8:00 p.m. that the participants will set off simultaneously from the four starting cities: Le Mans for the North-West of France, Richwiller (next to Mulhouse ) for the North, Caissargues (near Nîmes) for the South East and Cahors for the South West. These four "concentration" courses will be about 600 km long and of equal difficulty..
And when we think about what we went through last year, we know what to expect! It will be necessary to be attentive to the reading of the innumerable intersections indicated by the road book and not to seek its route, because it is on this precise point that the first Ultimate won: the minutes of delay will pay dearly for the arrival at Marcillat-en-Combraille (03), word of Marcus !
Another novelty: the motorcycles will all be equipped with a GPS tracker which will allow course tracking and make cheating impossible, especially since the penalty for a missing passage control goes from 3 to 30 minutes! A mandatory 30-minute break is also planned halfway through each concentration link: it will be welcome !
After ten hours of nighttime liaison, the arrival of the first competitor is scheduled for 6.30am the next morning at Marcillat.
The final steps…

Thursday June 24
Friday June 25
Saturday June 26
Sunday June 27 |
The 2010 edition promises to be a little more "human" than last year: the start of the first stage (Marcillat – Marcillat) will be given from 2:00 pm on June 25, and no longer just two hours after the finish of the concentration course !
We will then get to the heart of the matter, with a 250 km loop including a circuit and two road specials. Arrival of this first day stage at 7:30 p.m..
The second stage will take place at night with a start always on Friday June 25 at 10:30 p.m. for a 150 km course with two road specials. Arrival of the stage from 1h00 on Saturday morning.
At 9:00 am this same Saturday, June 26, a last piece and not the least: a third and last stage of 400 km awaits the competitors! Four road specials and one on the Marcillat karting circuit will finish off the survivors…
After the scheduled arrival around 6:00 p.m., the drivers will certainly not be very fresh for the Rally Festival scheduled for 10:00 p.m. … but it will be good to relax after having lived this great adventure out of the ordinary !
Finally, the awards ceremony will take place on Sunday at 11:00 am with different classifications: Single, Cylinder, Scooter, 125, Classics and Old, Amateurs, Veterans, Individuals and by teams.
The Site team will of course be there to broadcast live, as usual, this ultimate epic. To be continued: stay connected! Registrations:
