"We must remain mobilized"
But the French Federation of Angry Bikers (FFFMC) warns bikers, because "even if an important step has been taken, we must remain mobilized: it is not yet won because the vote was particularly tight"…
This first orientation must now be confirmed by a vote in plenary session in Strasbourg at the beginning of July, while the Commission will submit by 2016 a report on the accidentality of motorized two-wheelers, in order to compare the accidents of the countries which have a technical control regime for motorcycles and those who do not have one.
The European Commission’s proposal requiring cars over six years old to be checked every year was also rejected. Instead, MEPs propose that from the fourth year after registration, these vehicles be tested every two years.
"A victory of common sense against the lobbies"
The FFMC, the Federation of European Motorcyclists Associations (FEMA), the French Motorcycling Federation (FFM) and the Green Leisure Defense Collective (Codever) welcome this "new victory of common sense and citizens against the lobbies of technical control, instigators of this draft regulation within the European institutions ".
