125, 250, 500 cc: Brixton always aims bigger with the BX500 concept
The Glanville and Saxby 250 have not yet been marketed and Brixton is already planning the next step! The Austrian brand unveils its BX500 concept, a retro-looking roadster with a "neo" engine developed in collaboration with "a great manufacturer". Citroën? No, of course ! Honda? Perhaps…
The readers of Site – who, as everyone knows, are a little more fortunate than the others – already know that, encouraged by the success of its small 125 cc with a classic look, has decided to go up to 250 cc in 2019 with its Glanville and Saxby, addressed to A2 license holders.

But the mark of the Austrian group KSR sees even further: it unveiled in (Italy) a new concept called BX500 which foreshadows future production models which "will be available at dealers from the end of 2019".
As the name suggests, the BX500 is powered by a 500 cc engine. But unlike the current – Chinese – productions of the Austrian brand, the future novelty (s) 2020 will not have a basic air-cooled single cylinder..
Brixton already confides that its new engine will be a twin-cylinder equipped with a modern type of distribution (not variable, but with 8 valves and double overhead camshafts all the same) and the power voluntarily flirting with the 35 kW (47 , 5 ch) authorized in category L3e-A2: that of beginner bikers !
According to the Austrians, this engine is the "result of 24 months of development work, for which up to 20 engineers were employed simultaneously". He would have proved his endurance "in numerous tests on the test bench and over tens of thousands of kilometers on the road".
Honestly, the manufacturer specifies that this twin "was developed especially for Brixton Motorcycles by an experienced engine designer". A way to prevent the hasty conclusions of keen observers who, like MNC, find that the new Brixton machine strangely resembles that of a major Japanese competitor…
An experienced engine designer…
By comparing this BX500 and the Honda (or or), we are indeed struck by the similarities between the two watermills: sizes and shapes of the housings, anchor points on the frame and the position of various elements such as the pumps, the filter, starter or even horn !
Seen from the outside, many of the features match. Inside, however, we already know that the parts differ since the displacement of the "Austrian" engine is announced at 486 cc, against 471 cc for the twin of the CB500 series..
Design level, the Brixton concept evokes the choice of Honda’s "Neo Sports Cafe" (oddly enough, the Tokyo Reds offer and, but no CB500R …) or the new generation of (especially the).
Spoked rims, inverted fork, radial calipers, round LED light, digital instrumentation, almost flat saddle, truncated rear, offset plate holder … This concept is "classic" in many respects, but we must recognize the originality tank lines "with the" X "that stands out in the name and logo of the brand".
When will we see the final version of this Brixton BX 500? The date is set for the 2019 Eicma show, where "Brixton Motorcycles will present 500cc motorcycles ready for series production and which can be ordered at that time". The manufacturer is already talking about the presence of a new concept … A BX1000 GTi? Stay connected !
