2019 Honda Forza 300 review: more sport, less comfort
Modeled on the bestseller 125, the new Honda Forza 300 radically evolves towards more dynamism. More modern, this Sport-GT scooter offers unprecedented traction control while retaining its enormous trunk. Test.

Engine
The base of the water-cooled, single-shaft, 4-valve, single-cylinder is common to the "big-wheel" SH300I, assembled like the Forza at Honda Italy. The cylinder head ducts, timing and ignition components have however been modified to "favor liveliness throughout the rev range".
Barely less efficient on paper than that of the X-Max 300, this engine provides 25.2 horsepower at 7,000 rpm, "70%" more than that of its almost ego 124 cc alter in the Forza family. whose corpulence is, let us remember, identical. As for the torque of 27.2 Nm at 5,750 rpm, it was more than doubled compared to the latter. For this vintage, Honda announces "11.1 sec" (- 0.3 sec) at 200 m from a standing start and "+ 2 km / h" at peak (129 km / h). Prepare the anti-g suits !
Sign of the times, the Forza 300 adopts for the first time an anti-slip, called "torque control system" at Honda. This "Honda Selectable Torque Control" detects the difference in rotational speed between the wheels and instantly regulates the torque distribution. A command on the left stalk allows this HSTC to be disconnected. The radiator and the battery have been moved behind the 11.5 l tank to centralize the masses. The range of the latter should exceed 300 km.
Part-cycle
With 1,500 mm, the new tubular steel frame is 35 mm shorter than the previous one and its caster angle is slightly closed (26.5 ° against 27 °). Slightly reinforced compared to the 125, it is paired with a more "beefy" swingarm. A 33 mm fork is associated with two combined shock absorbers adjustable in seven positions.
The 15-inch front rim is now associated with a 14 (previously 13) rear wheel optimizing the passage of power to the ground. They are braked by a 256 mm disc (double-piston caliper) in front and 140 mm (single-piston) behind supported by an ABS, but more coupled as at the beginning of the Forza era.
As on the previous model, the Smart Key activating the ignition when held at a short distance from the scooter, also controls the opening of the trunk and the fuel flap. New for 2019, it electrically controls access to the top-box on the version equipped with it, without affecting its capacity. You just have to walk away for it to be locked.
