Peugeot 2017 scooters: new Metropolis 400 ABS TCS and new Belville 125
At Peugeot in 2017, the Metropolis 400 took advantage of the transition of its engine to the Euro 4 standard to thoroughly review its chassis and its equipment. The three-wheeled scooter "Origine France Garantie" is joined by a new large-wheeled scooter: the Belville. Presentations.
Despite the "high tech" character that Peugeot lends to the Metropolis 400, its 4-stroke, 4-valve, liquid-cooled single cylinder LFE (for Low Friction Efficiency) has so far only complied with the "Euro 2" standard. .. From January 2017 the new one will meet the requirements of the Euro 4 standard.
The spearhead of the Peugeot Scooters range will also evolve in terms of braking: it separates from the SBC combined system to adopt a new Nissin set significantly improving "the braking power of the vehicle, with 23% of distance gained at 50 km / h" , measured the builder.
Euro 4, ABS and TCS for the Metropolis
The two taller front rims accommodate larger discs (see key points below) which are themselves bitten by wider piston calipers. At the rear, a second piston further strengthens the braking of the Metropolis now supported by an ABS (Continental brand).
In addition to its new rims supposed to improve comfort, handling and stability, "" is equipped with a reinforced chassis and suspension settings which must "make it more pleasant to drive". The arrival of a TCS traction control system ("Traction Control System" with two Urban or Sport modes, which can be disconnected) should, for its part, make it safer..
In addition, the Metropolis is equipped with automatic ignition of the hazard warning lights in the event of emergency braking: "functional when the speed is greater than 50 km / h, the system activates the warnings if the vehicle experiences a deceleration greater than 6m / s then switches them off when the deceleration is less than 2.5m / s ", details Peugeot.
"In order to integrate these new technologies", add the French engineers, "the dashboard evolves and takes the opportunity to enrich its presentation (inspired by the latest Peugeot automobile dashboards) with chrome surrounds and an inverted tachometer" … like on the Can-Am Spider! We also note that the 12V socket is replaced by a more convenient USB socket.
The new Metropolis 400 will arrive – at a price still unknown – at the beginning of next year in a special series RX-R matt black and red (with short windshield and aluminum floor), then in stride in standard versions ( three colors) and RS (two colors).
Finally, "keen to make 3-wheel mobility accessible to as many people as possible", the "Lion de Mandeure" plans to market an "entry-level" version of the Metropolis 400 with 12 "wheels and SBC (Synchro Braking Concept ). They are "very urban", even "Yourban", at Peugeot !
A new large-wheeled scooter
Alongside the Metropolis – and the Tweet – will be lined up next summer a scooter with two – large – wheels: the Belville, whose name must be "bearer of the pleasures of the city, of the art of living and of style. à la française "in France but also" in Asia and in particular in Vietnam ", Peugeot predicts
This new scoot ‘"is aimed at men and women looking for a practical and elegant scooter", explains the French brand – owned by the Indian Mahindra -, which cites among its strengths: flat floor, USB socket, trunk accommodating a full face helmet, lockable glove box and "3 claw" rear light…
Expected for summer 2017, the Belville will be equipped with ABS and the new Smartmotion 125 cc engine with "ACG" system which deactivates the magnetic flywheel when the battery is sufficiently charged, with the aim of reducing fuel consumption. Two versions will be offered: RS qualified as "sporty", or Allure with standard top-case.
