Speed cameras: ever more profitable flashes in 2015
As announced at the start of the year, the total number of offenses detected by automatic radars in France fell slightly in 2015. And yet, the profits pocketed by the State increased significantly, from 740 to 789 million euros according to a recent report from the Court of Auditors !
As, the total of infringements recorded by the automatic radars in France is slightly lower in 2015. And yet, the profits pocketed by the State increase appreciably, passing from 740 to 789 million euros according to a recent report of the Court accounts !
+6.6% annual growth: who says better ?!
This official document recalls that the 4,200 automatic radars in service on the French road network flashed "20.24 million times" in 2015, slightly less than the 20.37 million "cracklings" recorded in 2014 (read). This does not prevent the jackpot from continuing to swell several tens of millions of euros – some 49 million to be precise! – from 740 to 789 million euros thanks to the increase in the number of reports sent (13.31 million in 2015 against 12.56 million in 2014)…
The causes of this better "flash / exploitable offense" ratio (called "conversion rate" by the administration) are the same as those explained in: better efficiency of existing radar installations and improvement of new means of controls with Two-way radars, red light radars and mobile radars, in particular (read our). But also enhanced access to European databases, making it possible to ticket vehicles registered abroad (2.3 million reports sent outside French borders in 2015).
Vicious surveillance
Since 2009, the continuous increase in this windfall generated by flashing booths has amounted to "+ 38%", or "+ 6.6%" per year: a growth that many would dream of at present, while all French people or almost are affected by the effects of the crisis … But of course, the government persists in trying to make us believe that the proliferation of speed cameras is only intended to protect drivers, and not to lighten their wallets. (read in particular).
Remember that within three years, 500 additional automatic radars will be installed, bringing the total of automatic checkouts to 4700 (!), While "5000" routes will enter by 2020 under the vicious surveillance of, like the one installed at the beginning year in Pas-de-Calais (62). Suffice to say that this tax revenue so appreciated by the State is not ready to dry up !
