Yamaha Motor France has decided to give a more official character to its Coupe YZF-125R, a promotional formula launched last year under the name "Coupe Yamaha challenge 125 4T Villeurbanne".

Now officially supported by the French Motorcycling Federation (FFM), this competition sponsored by the excellent Moto2 rider Johann Zarco (see the video below) will take place in parallel with the Coupes de France Promosport and perhaps also at the opening of major events such as the 24H Moto du Mans and the French Grand Prix (calendar below).

  • 23/24 March 2013: Carole (Promosport)
  • 11/12 May 2013: Croix-en-Ternois (Promosport)
  • May 17/18, 2013: Le Mans (Moto GP – to be confirmed)
  • 24/25 August 2013: Alès (Promosport)
  • September 7/8, 2013: Ledenon (Promosport)
  • September 20/21, 2013: Le Mans (24H du Mans – to be confirmed)

Described as "the heir to the RDLC 350 Cups and TZR 125 Cups which have seen the birth of great talents such as Jean-Philippe Ruggia, Regis Laconi or Olivier Jacque", the Yamaha YZF-125 R Cup is open to all pilots to from 11 years old.

She fights – as the name suggests – on the handlebars of a YZF-125R, the manufacturer’s small bomber with tuning forks (read our).

Two formulas are available: a complete package at 5,490 € including the motorcycle, its complete preparation kit (nose screen, tank cover, single-seater seat, underseat, right and left radiator scoop, engine guard, mounting kits, protection chain R6, chain guard, engine guard, LeoVince line and exhaust, gearbox output sprocket, graphics) and pilot equipment (Shark helmet, suit, Ixon back protector and gloves, TCX boots). And the same offer but without the motorcycle at 2098 euros.

Endowments by event

  • 1st: 300 € of spare parts + 1 set of Bridgestone tires
  • 2nd: 200 € of spare parts + 1 Bridgestone rear tire
  • 3rd: 100 € of spare parts + 1 Bridgestone front tire.

End of season endowments

  • 1st: 2000 € of spare parts
  • 2nd: 1000 € of spare parts
  • 3rd: 500 € of spare parts

Prizes will be awarded to participants based on their results in the form of original Yamaha equipment and spare parts (box opposite).

A jury composed of members of the FFM, Yamaha Motor France, Johann Zarco and his team manager Laurent Fellon will elect the winner of the 2013 YZF-125 R Cup at the end of the season.

"Upon decision of the jury, the winner will be supported to join a team allowing him to continue his sporting progress under the best conditions (Red Bull Rockies Cup, Moto3, 600 Supersport, SBK …)", specifies Yamaha.

The winner of the 2012 Yamaha YZF-125R Cup, Corentin Perolari, has been selected to enter the Red Bull Rookies Cup this year, an international competition contested on the sidelines of certain races of the Grand Prix World Championship..
