Sporty - Suzuki GSX-R 1000: Gextraordinarily yours! - The myth continues ...

In 2001, the arrival of the GSX-R 1000 set the hypersports category on fire! Slightly behind in the face of the technological advances of its rivals, the Gex has mobilized Suzuki’s full attention and is coming back as sharp as ever ! Road and track test !

The myth continues…

"Do not enter full angle in long curves and round your trajectory to take advantage of the torque on the exit", Sebastien Charpentier slips to me before sliding into a bend with his CBR 1000 RR! FMA Day’s luxury coach, the two-time Supersport world champion is on another planet when it comes to pace, but his advice is wise: once the track assimilated and the trajectories well defined, the Gex offers a feast for the senses !

Descendant of one of the most evocative sports lineage, the GSX-R 1000 K9 is undoubtedly successful: more agile, without sacrificing anything to its incredible stability and traction – at least in 106 hp – the beast has also made great progress on its general presentation. Better finished and much more attractive than some vintages, the Gex has not finished turning the heads of enthusiasts, whose ears are immediately raised to the evocation of the "Myth" GSX-R !

However, in order to recover a world Superbike title that has eluded it since 2005, the Suzuki appears a tad more radical on the road. Although it does not (yet?) Have the exclusivity of some of its rivals – notably European ones – concessions towards the sport have clearly been made: the Suz ‘is a less comfortable hint and can even be nervous about the rear when passing full pot on bumps.

Still, the (hyper) sport-road compromise is much more acceptable than on many other machines! And then, at € 14,299, the latest addition to the Japanese firm unveils a final weighty argument against the € 15,749 requested for a YZF R1 or the € 15,690 for a CBR1000RR (€ 16,690 with C-ABS! ). Only the 2008 ZX-10R puts the brakes on it with its price of € 13,999, but the Green does not offer so much ease and it is very likely that its expected redesign for 2010 will lead to an inflation of its price….
