Statements after the 1st Superbike race
Max Biaggi 1st: "Very lucky … I think Checa deserved this victory because he attacked very hard. Honestly he deserved it, but racing is racing and sometimes these things happen. This time it was our turn. We had a great pace and I’m happy for myself, my team and Aprilia".
Leon Haslam 2nd: "I didn’t have the best start, I think I went down about tenth, and got stuck behind Jakub Smrz when his engine blew up and I was covered in quite a bit of oil, so I didn’t want to follow too closely. The breakage of Checa allowed me to finish 2nd, we are not going to spit on it".
Noriyuki Haga 3rd: "I haven’t had a good result on this track in the past two years so I’m happy to take third place. From the first lap my feeling with the tires was not very good, I adjusted my driving style and I was happy to be able to finish third".
Troy Corser 5th: "All in all, we should be happy today. However, I was disappointed with the result in Superpole because I had to start the two races from the fourth row. In the first race I had to fight against the twitching of the motorcycle (the famous "chattering", Editor’s note), and I had some problems with the grip on the maximum angle".
Sylvain Guintoli 8th: "Today was a much better day for me and I’m happy because I think I managed to find a good pace in the race: all on a new track. I had little clutch problems in the first race and starting from the back of the grid is never easy. All things considered, I don’t think my eighth place is that bad".
