Statements from the second Superbike race

Cal Crutchlow, 1st: "As has been said a lot, it’s a dream come true for the British with three drivers on each podium. Well done to the fans who have supported us in an extraordinary way today! What a day for Yamaha and for me! I wouldn’t have thought I’d get two wins at once and would have preferred to have one earlier in the season and another today. But we fight for it all year and it’s finally done !"

Jonathan Rea, 2nd: "Halfway through the race I was wondering if I had the pace … It was a bit slower than in the first run, but I have to congratulate Cal who drove superbly. For my part, the team gave me a good bike this weekend. I am very happy and enjoyed driving. It’s a good result before going on summer vacation".

Leon Camier, 3rd: "It’s a dream come true! Going from 16th to 3rd place, we would never have imagined being able to do it! We’ve struggled recently but this weekend has more than corrected things. For this race, the team simply told me to invest myself fully so I’m happy with the result".

James Toseland, 8th (then 5th): "The first race went well, the settings were not perfect but I did my best. We made some big changes for the second run, got closer to Cal’s set-up for the first time and that really helped us. I hope we have found a good direction for the next race. I want to thank the team for the hard work between races, it propelled me from where I was in the first heat to the foot of the podium. Leon Haslam had a big race and he protected his lines really well … I could have been more aggressive, but I didn’t want to ruin his chances in the championship".

Sylvain Guintoli, 12th (then 7th): "Actually I’m not sure what happened in the first heat, because we had tried harder rubber tires during the morning warm-up and everything went very well. So we used them for the first race and they behaved completely differently. I couldn’t do the same lap times so I struggled the whole race. It was frustrating to say the least, but I know if I had attacked more I probably would have crashed. For me, the first race was a real disaster. Clearly we didn’t want to take any chances in the second heat so we used the same tire as the others and I was much happier. I was able to pick up a better pace, go faster and get closer to my best times. I found myself quite close to Max and I would have liked to overtake him because it would have been good for the team".
