WSBK 2014: Alex Lowes will be the second Suzuki rider
Alex Lowes was crowned 2013 British Superbike Champion on a Honda CBR1000RR. This year, he will discover the World Superbike riding a GSX-R1000 prepared by the Suzuki Crescent Voltcom team, alongside Eugene Laverty.
The Lowes twins have not finished talking about them: while Sam, 2013 world champion in Supersport, will spend the next two seasons riding a Speed Up in the Moto2 category, Alex his brother titled in British Superbike will ride in 2014 on the second Suzuki of the Crescent Voltcom team.

| Like Alex, Leon Camier landed four years ago in the WSBK with the British champion title in his pocket and his helmet full of hopes … "I don’t think we’ve seen the best of Leon, because of some unfortunate injuries"regrets Paul Denning,"but if points had rewarded perseverance, he would have been 2013 champion !"
Next year, "Kamir" will ride in MotoGP, on an Aprilia. Will we finally see the "real" Leon? His former teammate Jules Cluzel will aim for him. Business to follow on MNC of course ! |
The official announcement is not surprising: Site readers – who, as everyone knows, have a little more RAM than others – remember that Alex had carried out two tests at the very end of the year 2013 with Paul Denning’s team (read and).
"Alex was our top choice for 2014", testifies the team manager,"and his dedication, learning ability and sheer speed in the two tests carried out so far only strengthen our conviction: a very special talent will ride next season for the Suzuki Crescent Voltcom team.".
At just 23 years old, Alex defeated three-time British champion Shane Byrne in the very last race of 2013, showing remarkable and noticeable "tenacity and maturity", underlines the big boss of the Yellows of Hamamatsu in WSBK.
After two good years on Honda – he had driven on CBR, ZX-10R then YZF-R1 in 2011! -, the new "King" of the SBK across the Channel will turn in 2014 on a GSX-R which seems to correspond to him: "he looks comfortable on it and has a self-confidence that doesn’t turn into arrogance either", remarks Mister Denning.
"I did a couple of tests to get to know my team and the bike and I want to thank Honda for giving me permission to do so. (without however communicating on it, nor formalizing the transfer, Editor’s note) ", underlines for its part the n ° 22 (n ° 1!) of the British championship.
"I thought the GSX-R was great from the start", continues the new Suzuki rider,"and I think I will have a lot of fun driving it. I’m really looking forward to the start of the season. I will try to learn as much as I can from Eugene and then try to beat him !"
"Eugene’s experience and speed will be a further help for Alex as he begins his first season of World Superbike competition.", guarantees a Paul Denning filled by his two new recruits 2014 !

The 2013 vice-champion tweeted in parallel: "Here’s an interesting statistic: My new teammate Alex Lowes and I both have twins. Has it ever happened ?". FYI, Eugene’s twin is not a professional rider, unlike his other brother, Michael, engaged in MotoGP !
