Interrupted by a red flag, the Australian Supersport race came down to a grueling five-lap sprint. Qualified in 14th position, Cluzel takes advantage of the falls of Sofuoglu and Van den Mark to hoist his MV Agusta to the top of the podium !

Supersport Race

Sofuoglu took off wonderfully well from his pole and crossed the first sequence away from the peloton Van den Mark, Tamburini, Jacobsen, Coghlan, Wilairot, De Rosa, McConnel, Cluzel and Staring. Marino is 12th behind Gamarino.

The three-time Turkish champion tries to isolate himself in the first lap but the young Michael van den Mark passes him at the end of the straight line! Sofuoglu drives ahead of Jacobsen, Tamburini, Coghlan and De Rosa. Leonov is ejected (highside) by his F3 in the second corner. Cluzel himself, perfectly controls his MV Agusta and inherits eighth place.

At the head of the race, Van den Mark sets his own pace, which Sofuoglu manages to maintain without difficulty. De Rosa gets lost in the 4th lap hairpin and almost hits Cluzel when coming back on the line! The surprise Jacobsen goes off the track and gives up.

In front, Sofuoglu returns to the attack in the 5th lap. Van den Mark is immediately passed by Coghlan. De Rosa, on the other hand, loses contact. No.35 is ahead of a small group made up of Cluzel, Tamburini and … Marino: the two French are chasing a Top 5 !

Kawasaki # 54 leads two laps ahead of Yamaha # 88 and Honda # 60. The latter takes second place at the start of the eighth lap … A lap that is not completed due to the engine failure of Jack Kennedy’s CBR600RR.

Second start: the pilots set off for a sprint of five laps! The places on the grid correspond to the order of passage on the finish line during the last complete lap. Deviations from the chronometers, however, are not taken into account….

Sofuoglu got off to an excellent start again, but Marino got off to an even better start and climbed into the wheel of his colleague Kawasaki! De Rosa infiltrates in second position in the hairpin, Van den Mark occupies fourth place ahead of Coghlan, passed by Cluzel before the end of the first loop.

Florian took De Rosa’s asp in the straight line and took second place. Van den Mark loses the rear in the second curve and slides down to gravel. In front, Sofuoglu suffered a similar fall and gave way to our national No. 21 !

Cluzel joined Marino in the second lap: the two Frenchies were racing ahead of De Rosa, Coghlan, Wilairot and Tamburini. De Rosa passed Jules on the 4th lap, still braking the Honda hairpin. Wilairot in turn fell by losing the rear…

The last round is launched! Marino is still in the lead, Cluzel dives in second position ahead of Coghlan and De Rosa. The Yamaha rider takes the lead with authority in the middle of the Australian track, but our "super-sporty cock" responds to the braking behind Lukey Heights !

Jules Cluzel held his ground until the finish line and won a victory, to say the least, at the helm of his MV Agusta F3! Kev Coghlan and Rafaele De Rosa deprive Florian Marino of a podium but the young Frenchman marks the spirits … and important points.
