Yamaha XSR900 Alter preparation by Dab Motors
Simon Dabadie, founder of the Dab Motors workshop based in Biarritz (64), used advanced digital technologies to radically transform a Yamaha XSR900. Virtual modeling then 3D printing were used in particular to create this "Alter". Presentation.
"In a world where technology reigns supreme, it would be a shame to confine oneself to yesterday’s know-how", estimates Simon Dabadie, a motorcycle preparer from the Basque country very comfortable with digital tools such as 3D design, virtual engineering, 3D simulation and other so-called "virtual rendering" techniques.

The founder of Dab Motors thus intends to explore other avenues than traditional methods and to clear the contours of the motorcycle of tomorrow … "It is by looking to the future that we can develop avant-garde models" , he assures.
It is clear that its realization "Alter" based on responds perfectly to this notion of avant-garde, especially with its funny cover in linen fibers (!) Which extends to the front on a single tube of fork. The effect is, how to say … quite "particular", especially since the brown color is not particularly becoming….
MNC is more charmed by the rear part of the chassis, completely redesigned and printed in 3D, a technology also used for the upper triple tree and the headlight brackets. The reinforcements of this loop overlap – almost languidly – above the shock absorber forming an "X", while the end is dressed by the LED light. Very stylish.
The ultra-short side exit of the exhaust is also worth praising, as is the quality of certain peripherals like the handlebars, grips, footrests or the brake fluid reservoir. The driving position is also remarkably clean thanks to the movement of the digital instrumentation between the tank and the steering column..
Finally, a hearty sporty touch is introduced via the Brembo braking – radial calipers and master cylinders -, the Rotobox carbon rims and high-end Ohlins suspensions (STX 46 shock absorber and NIX 30 cartridge kit). Interesting "Alter-native", to detail in the photos then the video below.
