Episode # 10 – Discussion about sound or noise

The issue of noise pollution is almost as old as the combustion engine itself. But in summer 2020 it will be discussed particularly intensely. So Tyrol is betting on driving bans for certain motorcycles, albeit on a basis worth discussing. Line closures on weekends and on public holidays are also under discussion. Municipalities unite against motorcycle noise, motorcyclists show solidarity in petitions and demos. The pressure on the motorcycle community and industry is growing. But when is sound noise? Where does it come from and how is it perceived? And what exactly does an exhaust flap that is talked about everywhere? Why are there always new motorcycles that are louder than earlier models despite stricter standards? Why is the electric drive not an alternative in this case? The editors Johannes Muller, Ralf Schneider and Ferdinand Heinrich-Steige move on difficult terrain – between hardened fronts and the community of motorcyclists, which is also divided.
