Elegance? No, the requirement. The insatiable need to offer a design that oscillates between the sublime and the temptation. Like any MV-Agusta, the Turismo Veloce 800 responds to this desire … and to the expansion of the manufacturer’s range. The field to conquer at the moment is trail running – Varese is therefore investing this segment with its own philosophy..
Fine and tense curves, concern for beauty, effects of sportsmanship perspiring arteries, contained size and palpable tension, the Turismo Veloce is indeed an MV. A racy and graceful mixture provoking curiosity after congratulations. A muzzle strongly inspired by the F3 gives the first note of a partition between sport and tourism. See the superb design of the rear, with a passenger seat that appears to be half-suspended. Succumb to the inclined rafters delimiting the finesse of the rear lights. The Turismo Veloce may want to be trail, but above all it wants to be the most desirable. The dashboard alone makes you want to spend hours on the handlebars. A beautiful, ultra-comprehensive 5-inch TFT color screen, surpassing anything currently available.
The exhaust flutes take the appearance of those of the F3, Brutale and Rivale with 3 cylinders. Logical because the machine is also powered by the Tre Pistoni. However, the final shape is more square, as inspired by the F4. The attention to detail and to offer exceptional scents is extended by the red stitching on the saddle, a single arm, LED indicators inlaid in the hand guards, the finely luminous polygon encircling the optical unit, moments of engraving MV-Agusta here and there … temptation is everywhere.
The norm in the trail-GT segment is the big twin, preferably 1200 cc. MV instead opted for a boiling machine already named in its sporty F3, its Brutale roadster in mid-size format and the daring Rivale. Thus, the 3-cylinder super compact is installed within the Turisme Veloce, in its size 800. Fiery and angry, the 3 legs is calibrated to output 110 horsepower at 10,000 rpm. On the torque side, it is a tad more generous than the roadster, with an optimum of 8.6 mkg (+ 0.35) perched at 8,000 rpm. It smacks of nervous trail, more tempted to excite your back than the purring of a GT.
Tech fans will appreciate its advanced electronics, the 800 Turismo Veloce housing the MVICS 2.0 platform. Behind this code name hides a plume of driving aids. Three driving modes (Touring, Sport, rain) + one customizable – the setting possibilities are worthy of the Gran Turismo game. Throttle sensitivity, traction control, torque curve, power, engine braking and mill speed can be adjusted to a number of defined levels. The bike is also equipped with an anti-wheeling system, cruise control, and the second generation of EAS shifter. This allows you to go up but also down gears without touching the clutch. Shall we conclude this chapter of silicon with standard ABS and Bluetooth on board? Yes, unless you go for the Lusso version, enriched with semi-active suspensions and GPS.
An MV frame bears a signature: two aluminum pieces attached to a steel trellis frame. Very similar to that of the Rivale, its structure is a little wider and the plates are modified to accommodate a center stand. With 160mm of travel, the suspensions are supplied by Marzocchi for the 43mm inverted fork and Sachs for the shock. Brembo takes care of the braking and it’s serious without being hypersport. Radial mounting, 4 pistons per caliper and 320 mm discs at the front; 220 mm disc and dual piston caliper for the rear.
With a delicate size, the Turismo Veloce is also on the scale with 194 kilos. Its tank envisages good stages, with 20 liters of capacity.
Presented at the end of 2013, the MV-Agusta 800 Turismo Veloce does not finally arrive until 2015. The taste of trail, you will find it different and more spicy with this machine from Varese. The clothes give envy, the body expresses sports enthusiasm, the engine smells of powder. Obviously inclined to travel winding roads with speed, the machine will express more its genes of Italian ardor than a claim to “country” between roads, paths and pines. This MV-Agusta seems to live up to its name very well.
