Together, KTM and shareholder Bajaj have now revealed their plans for the future of new Husqvarna models: It starts in Mattighofen, and it continues in India.

At the Austrian KTM location in Mattighofen, the first models of the Husqvarna Svartpilen 401, Husqvarna Vitpilen 401 and Husqvarna Vitpilen 701 will soon be built and launched on the market in early 2018. This is stated in a joint press release from KTM and the Indian Bajaj group. Bajaj owns almost half of all shares in KTM.
200,000 motorcycles planned annually
From the end of 2018, the production of the Husqvarna Svartpilen 401, Vitpilen 401 and Vitpilen 701 will then be completely relocated to Bajaj in India. Makes sense, because at the location in Chakan, India, Bajaj already manufactures the technically largely identical KTM models 125 and 390 Duke as well as 125 and 390 RC.
For 2017, KTM and Bajaj expect around 100,000 KTM motorcycles to be built in India. Together with the Husqvarnas, this number should double in the coming years to 200,000 small KTM Dukes or Husqvarna Svartpilen and Vitpilen 401 and Vitpilen 701 from India.

In 2013, KTM took over the originally Swedish and later Italian brand Husqvarna from BMW. According to its own information, Husqvarna achieved an unprecedented sales figure of 30,000 motorcycles worldwide in 2016.
