New Harley-Davidson 2016: Low Rider S and CVO Pro Street Breakout
Two new Harley-Davidson motorcycles join the main 2016 novelties unveiled last summer by the American manufacturer: the Low Rider S and the CVO Pro Street Breakout, both equipped with the tasty "Screaming ‘Eagle" Twin Cam 110.
Two new Harley-Davidson motorcycles join the main 2016 novelties unveiled by the American manufacturer: the Low Rider S and the CVO Pro Street Breakout, both equipped with the tasty twin-cylinder "Screaming ‘Eagle" Twin Cam 110.
Low Rider S
In addition to its black dress enhanced with gold rims, the new Low Rider S is characterized by its engine, the popular Twin Cam 110 "Screaming ‘Eagle" (howling eagle!) And its vigorous 159 Nm of torque developed at 3500 rpm . That is "13%" more than the Twin Cam 103 of the standard Low Rider !
Hitherto reserved only for Custom Vehicle Operations (CVO) models, the hyper high-end motorcycles "prepared" by Harley, this 1801 cc twin offers not only a noticeable performance gain but also additional character and "flavor" . Not to mention its even more sparkling sound !
After the, the Low Rider S becomes the third Harley (excluding CVO) to receive this recognizable engine, among other things, via its prominent side air filter, in a "handcrafted" way. Modern (for a Harley), it receives a ride-by-wire electronic throttle control and a 6-speed gearbox.
This extension of the Twin Cam 110 to more accessible models reflects the American manufacturer’s desire to open up: no need to pay up to € 40,920 (CVO Limited) to enjoy the mechanical approval of the large 1801cc air-cooled twin. !
The Low Rider S is also distinguished by its standard cruise control, its more advanced suspensions (Premium Ride range from the HD catalog), its two brake discs with ABS, its ultra-low solo seat (675 mm), its high handlebars. and its new windfall.
This third bike in the "S Series" offer will be available from this summer 2016 in Vivid Black only, at a price of 19,290 €. Or 3,160 euros more than the standard Low Rider (16,130 €).
CVO Pro Street Breakout (limited series)
Not a novelty in the strict sense of the term, the CVO Pro Street Breakout is actually a luxurious variation of the Breakout from the Softail range. Passed through the hands of the CVO division, this limited edition is powered by the Twin Cam 110 shown above.
The very elongated fork of this new CVO Pro Street Breakout is of the inverted type, which gives it a – relative! – touch of sportiness.
The diameter of the front wheel drops from 21 inches on the original version to 19 on the CVO, likely to the benefit of handling. At the rear, the tire retains its generous width of 240 mm.
Among its other specificities, the CVO Pro Street Breakout has a flat handlebar topped with a new headlight cowling, a truncated front fender, black controls and mirrors and instrumentation installed a little lower.
Like many Harleys, it receives an alarm, cruise control and ABS (mandatory in 2016) and a transponder remote control as standard. Available only in "Smoke Satin Chrome" black, this CVO Pro Street Breakout is priced at € 27,490, or € 6,240 more than the standard Breakout equipped with Twin Cam 103 (€ 21,250).
