W800: the return of the "Vintage Attitude"

Since the disappearance of the gentle W650, sacrificed at the end of 2007 on the altar of antipollution standards (read in particular our), many of our readers regret the absence of a competitor to the Triumph Bonneville in the Kawasaki catalog. Akashi’s crest has obviously taken note of this request, since he decided to reinvest the retro segment with a W800 in 2011 !

Built around a twin-cylinder air-cooled 773 cc and wedged at 360 ° – an architecture that allows it to reach its maximum torque from 2000 rpm – this worthy heir to the W1, W2 and W3 retains the same aesthetic finery : the long and thick leather saddle, the double chrome tailpipe, the round headlight and the spoked rims (19 inches at the front and 18 at the rear).

Benefiting from the progress made on modern cycle parts, this vintage 2011 W800 adopts a double cradle chassis, a telescopic fork and two side shocks which should "promote handling and stability", predicts Kawasaki. On the braking side, the beautiful Japanese has a single disc at the front clamped by a Tokico two-piston caliper with axial fixing.

The Greens are proud of the meticulous care taken in the realization and the finish of this old "true-false", of which the driving character and the solid revivals at mid-speed would also count among the principal assets. Hopefully a well-placed price will transform these beautiful promises !

VN1700 Voyager Custom ABS: Kawasaki’s American Dream

Launched in 2009 with the objective of walking on the Harley-Davidson flowerbeds, the VN1700 range (read our) is enriched with a new “Bagger” type model in 2011: the VN1700 Voyager Custom.

With lines intentionally similar to those of the Street Glide, Electra Glide and other American Street Glide CVOs, the Japanese however has a touch of modernity..

In addition to K-ACT (Kawasaki Advanced Coactive-braking Technology) assisted ABS, an ultra-complete on-board console and Cruise Control, the VN1700 Voyager Custom also carries an audio system compatible with an iPod.

On the engine side, the big 1700 cc liquid-cooled V-twin – purists will have a hard time! – probably not having undergone any major technical modifications, it should display power and torque values of around 75 hp and 140 Nm.

As for the price, the "standard" Voyager currently being exchanged for a check of 18,999 € in the, this VN1700 Voyager Custom could reach – or even exceed? – the € 20,000 mark. To be continued: stay connected !
