The new Yamaha FJR 1300AE, new in 2014 which will be available at the end of September 2013 in the at the price of 18,499 euros turnkey, adopts the electronic suspension adjustment system.
Main evolution of the Yamaha FJR1300 2013 (read our), these electronically controlled suspensions were until now only offered on the AS version (automatic gearbox) but not on the A (manual gearbox).
"This technology, now available to riders preferring a machine with a clutch lever, allows the driver to better adjust the suspensions to adapt them both to road conditions and to the loads carried", recalls Yamaha: "the four main settings available on the Yamaha FJR1300AE guarantee optimum control and handling, whatever the conditions ".

Concretely, the setting of the fork at the front and of the mono-shock absorber at the rear is done by means of electrical controls and small stepper motors: a button on the handlebars allows you to choose between the following settings: pilot alone (One-Up), pilot alone with luggage (One-Up with Luggage), pilot with passenger (Two-Up) and pilot with passenger and luggage (Two-Up with Luggage).
A "Soft", "Standard" or "Hard" damping can then be assigned to each of these four settings – which offers a total of 12 different combinations – and the pilot can further refine each setting manually "to obtain a configuration that perfectly meets the requirements. its needs".
The FJR1300AE therefore also adopts the inverted fork of the AS 2013, in order to accommodate this electronic suspension adjustment system..
It has independent damping mechanisms "to dissociate the adjustment between compression and damping", specifies Yamaha: "the latter mechanism is located in the left arm of the fork, the right arm integrating that of the rebound, according to a technology which has already proven itself in competition on the Yamaha YZR-M1 MotoGP and as standard on the Yamaha YZF-R1: this separate damping system helps reduce fluctuations in hydraulic pressure in the fork, thus optimizing damping performance during intense and prolonged use ".
