News - Everything you need to know about the Kawasaki Versys 1000 - Thank you electronics!

Unveiled exclusively by Site in early October, the Versys 1000 has since caused much ink to flow. Officially presented at EICMA, the most important new Kawasaki 2012 is now delivered in every detail. Complete file.

Thank you electronics !

Well equipped, the Versys 1000 has a complete on-board console (read the "Instrumentation" part of our technical sheet on the following page) and comes with a luggage rack, large passenger handles and a screen adjustable to around 30 mm in height as standard..

Too bad that this adjustment must necessarily be carried out when stationary, since it requires handling two notched knobs placed on the front of the windshield …

Of the restricted kind, the space under the saddle also undermines the practicality of this road trail (the Greens specify that it just allows "to store space-saving rain gear or small items"), just like the final chain transmission or the absence of a central stand.

Conversely, the Versys 1000 is a resolutely modern motorcycle: a latest generation ABS takes care of any blockages of the 300 mm discs pinched by 4-piston calipers at the front. Discovered on the ZX-10R, this Bosh module is able to avoid lifting from the rear by regulating the hydraulic pressure between the front and rear circuits.

Inspired by the one discovered on the Hypersport, the KTRC traction control is also part of the electronic assistance present as standard. Adjustable on three levels of intervention and disconnectable, this device acts on the ignition, the supply and the air intake in the event of slippage with extreme reactivity: its processor thus dissects the data every 5 milliseconds. !

Finally, a flick on the control located on the left stalk allows you to choose between two injection maps: Full Power and Low Power. With last, the arrival of power is "tempered" and the motor is limited to about 75% of its capacity..

Officially announced for the month of December 2011, the Kawasaki Versys 1000 will be available in white or brown. In particular, it can receive (optional) a top case and saddlebags that can be used at the same time, unlike the luggage of a Z1000 SX for example..

When questioned by us, the Kawasaki France team could not tell us its price, not even a fork. However, Site’s little finger suggests that this astonishing 2012 novelty should be marketed at a price not much higher than that of a Z1000SX ABS, or just over € 13,000 … To be followed closely on MNC: stay connected !
