Yamaha Deus Swank Rally 700

Yard-built conversion on an XSR 700 basis

Deus Ex Machina has put a new Yamaha bike on its wheels as part of the Yard Built project. The Deus Swank Rally 700 is based on the XSR 700.

The Swank Rally 700 is not the first Yamaha to be rebuilt by the customizers of Deus Ex Machina. Tea basis is the retro bike Yamaha XSR 700. Conversions such as the SR 400 "Lightning", the XJR 1300 "Eau Rouge" or the XV 950 "D-Side" were made earlier. Now the Swank 700 is the successor.

Modern technology meets classic off-road look

According to Deus Ex Machina, because of the strong and linear torque of the two-cylinder in-line engine and the light chassis, the decision was made for the XSR 700. The goal was clear from the start: The Swank had to be made afloat especially for off-road use among other things lose weight. That is why the customizers decided to use the telescopic fork from the Super Tenere 1200. In addition, the Swank 700 was equipped with a 19-inch front wheel.

In addition, the Deus customizers gave the fork softer suspension elements. The rear end has been upgraded with a mono strut from Ohlins. The result is longer suspension travel: 190 millimeters at the front; 180 millimeters at the back. The Metzeler Karoo 3 mounted on Kineo spoke rims is supposed to ensure good grip in the terrain.

Lots of handcrafted components

Visually, not much is left of the XSR 700. The front of the Swank is reminiscent of enduro bikes of the good old days. In addition, some components such as the aluminum tank, the seat and the aluminum protective plate under the engine were handmade. The fenders and hand protectors are from Acerbis. For the exhaust system, Deus Ex Machina relies on a tailor-made 2-in-1 solution from SC Project. Incidentally, the Deus Swank Rally 700 made its first public appearance at the “Reunion Bike Event” in Monza. This was followed by appearances on the Swank Rallye Sardinia and the Wheels & Waves in Biarritz.
