At Suzuki, a new GSX-R can hide another! While the awaited and completely redesigned 2016 GSX-R1000 is expected to land in the second half of the year, a brand new GSX-R250 built from the Inazuma will be presented next month in India..

At Suzuki, a new GSX-R can hide another! While the should land in the second half of the year, a new GSX-R250 built from the Inazuma will be presented next month in India..

A small Gixxer !

Presented for a few months on the Asian motorcycle market, this GSX-R250 (or Gixxer 250, a name already used in India by Suzuki on a 155 cc motorcycle) has gone into production, as revealed by "stolen" photos taken in Suzuki’s Chinese factory in Changzhou, where the Inazuma 250 are built among others (read our).

This parallel with the Inazuma is not insignificant since it is from this roadster with a very discreet career in France that the GSX-R250 was designed..

Hamamatsu’s "mini Gex" therefore takes over the water-cooled 248 cc in-line twin-cylinder, developing 25 hp and 22 Nm of torque..

Same thing for the cycle part, visually close to that of the Inazuma, especially at the level of the double steel cradle frame, the telescopic fork and the mono-shock absorber provided by Kayaba and the Nissin brakes..

Only the "sporty" trim, headlights and saddle really differ at first glance. In detail, there is a fairly enveloping fork crown and raised half-handlebars, as on the competing Honda CBR300R, Kawasaki Ninja 300, KTM RC390 and other Yamaha R3s. Little "eccentricity": 100% digital instrumentation in the form of a very modern panel.

This new GSX-R250 should be presented at the beginning of February at the Auto Expo show in Noida (India), followed by a marketing announced for next spring … in India.

To date, nothing indicates that this Gixxer will exceed the limits of the huge Asian market, very fond of this kind of motorcycles unlike in Europe..

Note that Suzuki has already marketed a sports motorcycle under the name "GSX-R250" from 1987 to 1993 on its domestic market..

Rarely imported into Europe, these quarter-liter "bombinettes" are widespread in Japan because of the difficulties in obtaining a large displacement motorcycle license (over 400 cc) and their high cost..
