Motorcycle news: the BMW S1000RR roadster for 2014 ?
The explosive roadster that BMW is developing on the basis of its S1000RR hypersportive motorcycle was surprised during a test session by our colleagues from Motociclismo. A Kolossal kick in the anthill of roadsters !
Not very discreet, the German testers: not only do they stroll – as if by chance – in front of a camera with a novelty in full development (), but as a bonus said novelty is covered with the very visible and characteristic striped "camouflage" that BMW uses on all these motorcycles in the finalization phase…
The manufacturer from across the Rhine would like to draw attention to this expected new model that he would not go about it otherwise … Because it is an understatement to say that this roadster on the basis of is desired: hardly had BMW had unveiled his ultra-sporty bomb that some already dreamed of a decarenated version !
This wish would therefore be on the way to becoming reality, since the motorcycle seen by our Italian colleagues seems very close to a marketable version: the ultimate BMW roadster appears with all the mandatory elements (plate, headlights, mirrors and indicators), while the presence of a passenger confirms his advanced state of development. The BMW propeller testing service would actually not bother to ride a duo on a motorbike in the middle of roughing. !
On the aesthetic level, this "R1000RR" (its unofficial nickname) seems very close to the sport, at least on the rear part with its hull cut in point and its short exhaust. At the front, however, BMW seems to have replaced the optics with different shapes of the S1000RR by more conventional headlights stretched in almond.
Above are installed a straight handlebars and a screen whose almost vertical position calls out: perhaps it is adjustable in inclination, as on the or Honda … Finally, the fairings are also redesigned and cover a little less the modern 999 cc inline 4-cylinder: a common aesthetic choice in this category of "Streetfighter" roadsters.
Not allowed A2 approved !
The sports car’s engine developing 193 hp in Full, this new roadster will a priori have no trouble getting out in the 170, just to outclass its designated rival: and its 167.3 hp which are currently the benchmark. A re-parameterized injection and a shorter transmission are probably to be expected, in order to strengthen the revivals of an engine that is already not lacking in pep.
To curb this cavalry, BMW will undoubtedly offer as an option the same electronic safeguards released on the, namely an anti-wheeling and an anti-skid whose action is coupled to the different injection maps, as well as an ABS disconnectable.
Finally, the perimeter aluminum frame and the peripherals (full adjustable inverted fork and 4-piston radial calipers, in particular) also seem identical to those of the. This promises road holding above all suspicion for this bike whose weight could flirt with – or under – the 200 kg bar in running order (204 kg without ABS and 206.5 with for the).
But it will still be necessary to be able to rest the front wheel to take advantage of it: between the explosive engine, the more upright position and the weight gained on the front by removing the trim, this "R1000RR" may rush to the sky at the slightest rotation of its electronic accelerator! We can’t wait for the motorcycle shows planned for this fall, where BMW will undoubtedly officially lift the veil on this novelty … !
