New Aprilia RSV4 R: the accessible dream !
Designed like a racing machine, the Aprilia RSV4 Factory has been sowing discord in the Hypersport category since its arrival. Elite, Noale’s Super (be) Bike leaves behind some luxurious attributes to make itself more accessible in its R version.
From Factory version to R version
Both expected by sports lovers and feared by Japanese competition, the Aprilia RSV 4 R, the basic version of the RSV 4 Factory (read our) made its first public appearance before the WSBK races this weekend. to Imola (read).
Modeled exactly on its distinguished big sister, the RSV 4 R approaches the same clean and minimalist lines (with a few touches of carbon less here and there), the same hypnotic seduction and above all the same fabulous V4 of 999.6 cc developing the same incredible values as the top-of-the-range model: 180 hp (available at 12,500 rpm instead of 10,000 rpm on the Factory) and 115 Nm of torque at 10,000 rpm…
Ultra modern and compact, the heart of the new muse of Noale undergoes very few modifications on this version with a more "general public" vocation: apart from the variable-height intake vents, the RSV 4 R has the same attributes as the Factory: an electronic accelerator Ride-By-Wire latest generation, chain and gear distribution and Magneti Marelli electronic injection, with choice of three maps on the handlebars (Road where power is limited to 140 hp, Sport where torque is lower in the first three gears and Track where power and maximum torque are permanently available).
To contain costs and come to play on the ground of Japanese Hypersports, the Aprilia RSV 4 R had to exchange the light forged wheels of the Factory for aluminum elements and adopt Showa (front) and Sachs suspensions ( at the rear) fully adjustable instead of the full Ohlins gear proudly displayed on the top-of-the-range model.
In addition, if the Italian retains its double aluminum beam frame inspired by Aprilia’s enviable Grand-Prix experience (33 world championship titles and 271 GP 125 and 250 victories!), The amazing possibilities of adjustments offered by the RSV 4 Factory (position and inclination of the steering tube, adjustable fork steerer and motor heights) no longer appear on the RSV 4 R data sheet.
Braked by Brembo four-piston radial calipers, the RSV 4 R however admits only 5 small kilos more than the Factory (184 against 179 kg dry) and nonetheless remains a very sporty-oriented machine. marked and with undoubtedly exhilarating dynamic potential !
Available in black or white, the Aprilia RSV 4 R will be available from the second half of October at an estimated price between € 15,400 and € 15,900: sure that the Yamaha R1 (€ 15,749), Honda CBR1000RR ( 15 690 €), Ducati 1198 (17 990 €) and other KTM RC 8 (16 490 €) must already start to shake…
